It's Cheryl O's son Greg birthday today, WOO HOO!! Happy birthday dude!!

Is today anyone else's birthday? Happy birthday to YOU as well!! :)

Speaking of birthdays, since my husband and I are now separated and his birthday is next month, I still want to do something for him (the big 40!!) from the kids... any thoughts? I'm soooo not trying to put myself out there and spend a lot of money, but the kids absolutely adore him and I would never take that away from them. IF I get him something, it will be from THEM (or should I be the bigger person and get him a little something for his new apartment? Like silverware? CHEAP little something?)

Happy birthday Greg :)

What can I do next?

I'd see what the kids would like to get him--ask them!

Personally, I don't think you should buy him a personal birthday gift from you. Keep it about the kids for now.....

There's a lot to be said about being "the bigger person" but there's also something to be said for not trying to take personal responsibility for HIS birthday "happiness", right.

Part of a separation is a trial run to see what life is like without someone.

Good luck!

While my husband was deployed, I sent him a t-shirt with our kids' handprints on it (in fabric paint.) We called it his hug shirt, so he could be "hugged" by our kids even so far away. Something sentimental (and inexpensive) from the kids would be awesome for your hubby and good to do something the kids can get involved with. Also, you and the kids can bake him some brownies or something. Again, the activity is good for the kids to realize that you can still think and do nicely for their Daddy.

Unless your kids have jobs or their Dad is just that dense, he will realize the gifts are also from you.

AAAWWW Thank you R.!!!

I've been upstairs making Greg's banana chocolate chip birthday cake!! He's already had people calling him!! He feels sooo special!! thank you!!!

As to Rob's birthday? I would do like Leslie said - get a t-shirt and have the kids put their hand prints on it. I think it's sweet. If you feel like doing more? Get him something small for his apartment.

Thanks again!!!

Happy bday Greg! Mine was yesterday and I had a great weekend.

I would say to get Rob something just from the kids, and ideally something they make so you don't buy it. And if they want to see him, I would suggest it is without you. Drop them off or he can pick them up. You need to make it clear to the kids you are no longer together and NO chance of getting back together, if that indeed is true. Its required in AZ before you divorce you MUST take a parenting class. They said that no matter how old the kids are, they will always want their parents back together so if you are getting divorced, you should always do things separately or its too confusing for them and gives them hope you will get back together. Good luck!!!
