I have a 3 year old daughter who will be turning 4 the end of this month. I have a pretty good sized family which mainly consists of adults and about 3 children. We normally have a party at my house, but we are having our yard ripped up and redone this summer, so this leaves out having a party at our house. The problem I am having is, where can I have a party for her where we only have a few children and a lot of adults? She always wants the adults to play with her, so I don't know if there is any place that has anything to do for adults and children. Any suggestions? I live in the Salem, NH area so anywhere probablly within a 25 mile radius is fine with us.

What can I do next?

Hi M.,
I did a bowling party for my son when he turned 4 and he loved it! We went to Park Place Lanes in Salem. We didn't keep track of scoring(although you can)...the kids just kept rolling the balls down the alley and had a great time! After they are done bowling there is a room off to the side for pizza, cake and gifts. The bowling alley did a great job with everything!
This way adults can come and you don't need to pay extra if they aren't bowling....just oder extra pizza's for everyone.
Have fun!

Hi M.,

Have you considered a local park? Many parks allow you to reserve a specific spot to have a party. It is casual, but lot's of things you can do.

I live in North Reading. I know that Clarke Park on Burroughs Road allows you to reserve their pavilion. This is a small park on a pond with lots of equipment for the kids. They also have a volley ball net and basketball. Even a small path if the little tikes want to ride trikes or bikes or scooters, roller blades etc. You can even fish.

Their is also Endicott park in Danvers. I think they offer a person who can run your party and also an alternative indoor spot in case of inclement weather.

Salem, MA has Winter island Park which also has a pavilion for rent and they have a park and small private beach area.

As you can see their are lot's of outdoor spot's which you can rent for parties. Just use your imagination.

If you want a simple restaurant that both kids and adults can enjoy Prince Pizzeria on route 1 in Saugus is a good location.

Best Wishes,

J. L.

You don't say if your on a budget, but Chunky's in Pelham is always a great time, and there are lots of family friendly movies coming out this month.

My son will be turning 4 in August, and we have a similar family set up. For the past two years, we have had his party on Salisbury Beach state park, right on the beach. We live in Methuen in a small house, and I just can't bear to ask everyone to come to Methuen on an August day. because its at the beach, more people end up coming. We get a couple of big subs from Borelli's in Methuen, easy drinks and juice boxes and a cake and keep it simple. Salisbury is nice because it has plenty of parking and facilities, although the drive through the town of Salisbury is not that scenic. That being said, I'm thinking of doing his party at a local playground this year, since he wants to invite a few friends from preschool, and I don't want to drag everyone up to Salisbury. I'm 32 with just my one almost 4 year old son and awesome hubby. Good luck and have fun.

If an outdoor park doesn't work, you might look into renting space in a Community Center. I know ours (Brentwood) will rent space. If any family members live in a condo complex, sometimes they have community rooms to use too.
Good luck,
J.
