I need help!! I am looking for birthday party ideas for my son's 4 yr old birthday party. His birthday is October 12. I don't want to spend a lot of money (some parties are outrageous). He doesn't like bounce houses at all. Does anyone have any suggestions? I appreciate your help!!

What can I do next?

What about simply reserving one of the picnic areas at a local park? In the past year, we've been to great b-day parties at Finch and Erwin Parks in McKinney, and Celebration Park in Allen. October 12 is probably a little late for the spalsh pad, but kids will still have a great time on the playground (the party at Erwin did bring more activities--chalk, bubbles, arts and crafts--because there wasn't a big playground). I say, keep it simple! GL!

When my son turned 4 we used Abrakadoodle. It's art, painting, etc. They will host whatever kind of art, craft project. They came to our home, set, and cleaned up. We did that for the first 1 1/2, then after they cleaned up and left, we had cake (we had snacks available throughout the art project). The only thing to be careful was the number of kids. I think we bought a package for 10 kids. My sons were 2 of 10, so we could only invite 8 others to keep to our budget. You could also have your own art/craft birthday party as well. Joanne Fabrics, and Michaels have all kinds of art kits. You and a couple of mom's could set up a table and lead the activity.

What about the pumpkin patch in Celina? I haven't been there yet, but I do hope to go this year with my kiddos. Others that I know LOVE it!!!

I do like the previous poster's idea about reserving a picnic area at a local park. The weather will still be nice (and hopefully not too hot), and the kiddos will enjoy running around and playing together.

To keep it simple (and not as expensive), have it in between meal times so that you can just have simple snacks and cupcakes.

Good luck!

I don't know how many kids you are having, so I don't know if this would get expensive or not, but The Dallas Arboretum has a fantastic Pumpkin display for kids in October. It has over 40,000 pumpkins along with their flowers, and they are featuring 4 walk-through houses made of pumpkins that are based on storybooks that feature pumpkins. They also have a haybale maze, and if you go to their website they have a find the pumpkin hunt you can print out for a game. I don't know if your kids are in school or not, but if you go on a Tuesday they have Mommy & Me activites with lots of activites for kids. You should really check it out! The website is http://www.DallasArboretum.org. Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for children, and 3 and under are free. I think I saw that you can get $1 off admission at Tom Thumb.
