A.,

I am a working mom too and as a result, I like to do whatever I can to make the nighttime routine smooth. I use the removable Avery labels (#6460) to pre-print the dates for up to a month or two. This way I just peel them off and stick them on the bottles as I make them. They're also easy to pull off when you're all done. I use them in conjunction with Mabel's Labels which have her name on them and are dishwasher safe.

Hope this helps!

Masking tape works great for me. I had to label my daughter's sippys for Sunday school and it would stick on there through the dishwasher, but would peel off clean when the writing faded too much or the tape got raggedy. Just write the name on one piece then the date on another and stick them on. A roll from the dollar store will last a very long time.

Check out this web site: http://www.inchbug.com/. The bumpy name orbit labels are awesome!!! They are rubbery plastic bands that go around your bottles, sippy cups, etc. They are dishwasher safe. You can leave them on the bottle/cup or switch them to other items. Totally versatile!! Couldn't live without them. Everyone who has used them raves.

I worked in a day care center. The best thing you can do is buy stock in Sharpies. Just write your child's name directly on the object with the Sharpie. It will last quite a while and when it fades, you just write over it again.

Best of luck to you!

You can order wonderful labels on-line at "Mabels Labels". These are dishwasher safe and will stay on your bottles and cereal containers forever! Also great to use in clothes, shoes, etc. We have used these for years. www.mabelslabels.com Good Luck!

My mom has a label maker that she has used to put my son's name on his sippy cups for daycare and they last through the dishwasher. I'm not sure what kind she has though. I actually just write his name on a piece of masking tape with a sharpie and it still lasts through the dishwasher for several cycles:).

Hi A.. Depending on the type of bottles/caps that you use, a Sharpie works great. I use the clear plastic Avent bottles and I can write my son's name and the date on the cap. The writing stays on throughout the day and wipes off easily at night with a dab of rubbing alcohol on a paper towel. Just a suggestion. :)

I use a Brother brand label maker. You can make the labels a long as necessary and I have not had any problem with them staying on through the dishwasher.

A little about me:

I am a 37 year old working mom of a 2 1/2 year old boy.

Hi,
I saw in the back of an american baby magazine...someone sells waterproof labels...or just use a Sharpie marker and mark them all individually...not pretty but will never come off!

Buy a P-touch labeler - they are pretty cheap nowadays. You can get them from the office supply stores or probably online stores. You can order special tape for them from the P-Touch website that is 'super-stick' - we used this for the labels for our daughters bottles (in dishwasher then micro steamer after every use) and they survived her entire baby-hood (she's 4 now) and we're using them now for our 4-month old. A couple of them are just now starting to peel off - when I took one all the way off, NO residue!

The labeler comes in handy for tons of other stuff as well - you can type in any text you want to print (think file cabinets, plastic toys and/or books that might go to school with him, crafts, etc.)

Good luck!

I have a friend who makes waterproof labels and you can customize them with a little graphic and your child's name. The ones I have certainly have enough room on them for me to write with a sharpie or something. Her website is www.doodlebugspaper.com. I also hear good things about a company called mabels label's, but I am not sure if you would be able to write on them.
Good luck!

I am going to assume that you have to label your bottles for day care. I will tell you from working in a day care and also having my children there, the best label you can use is masking tape. It is easy to remove for cleaning, yet will stay on when it is rinsed at the center. You can make the labels as long or as short as you need to also. I hope this helps...it is the best thing that I found for this.

Masking tape and a sharpie. At my son's daycare, I also have to date it, so it can't be anything permanent, the masking tape comes right off without leaving sticky stuff behind. I have to label all his meals because he can't eat the regular stuff!

Bumpy labels! I don't have any of these, but my understanding is that they stay put until you remove them and they can be transferred to another item, if necessary. They can go through the dishwasher, etc. If your child has a common name, they have some already made up to ship. If not, they can make them custom for you.

Try using the blue painters tape...masking tape. It stays on after washing from the dishwasher and when it gets old you can peel it off and stick a new piece on :)

Hi,
I am sure you've gotten a lot of suggestions. What works for me is simply using a Sharpee permanent marker (which does wash off the bottles at least).
