Hi Everyone,
SO I just found out last week that baby number 2 is a boy. I have a 2yr daughter. I have absolutely NO boy names picked out and honestly am finding it hard to find one and also for my husband and I to agree on 1! Sooo I'm looking for your help... I need a unique, different BOYS name..on the shorter side would be better, we have a long last name. Any help, I would love. Sitting here staring @ the lists on the name websites just gives me a headache!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

What can I do next?

My son's name is Dean. Bet you haven't met a Dean lately, if ever....
Good luck.

P.S. Dean is easy to spell so that makes it even better for him. :)

Grant.

It's "old" unique, not "new" unique. My Grant is 8 and he is the only one I know. It means Great.

We named our son Carson and have not come across any other children with his name in 2.5 years. Not to unique but still not widely used from what I have seen.

I see my boys' names on many of the responses. I had Evan picked out many years ago. It was supposed to be Evan Riley, but when he got here, hubby decided to give him his name as a middle. Evan Ross is so much easier to "emphasize" than Evan Riley would have been. LOL

Then, when number 2 came around, Evan heard me mention the name Noah and proceeded to tell everyone that his baby's name would be Noah. It just kinda stuck. But, for Noah's middle name, we couldn't decide on anything. I thought it needed to be longer to sound better rhythmically, but, I also wanted it to have some family connection. I decided that SETH had the initials of my great-grandpa,dad's middle, grandpa and father-in-law (Sam Edward Thurman Herman), but it left out my other grandpa. So, WEST included other grandpa (Wayne, Edward, Sam, Thurman) but left out father in law.......Tired yet? I was! So, I did a facebook/text poll between Seth, Christopher and Travis (my pastor's name and his suggestion the morning before he was born). Noah Christopher won by a landslide. You're already fretting over it, so try take the stress out of it and have some fun with it.

Congrats. My husband and I didn't agree either and it was getting on my nerves. I like Jalen. We found a common ground, which was biblical names since we both attend church. I for sure didn't want him a jr! Since, my son was my husband's first and only son, I let him make the final decision. I also wanted Isaac. We finally agreed on Joshua and his middle name Isaac. Hope you and your husband pick a good name that won't harm his future! I am a teacher, and some of the five and six syllable names these kids walk in and out of my classroom with is a hot mess!

Look at names that were common in the 60s/70s. No one is using those anymore. Think Jason, Kevin, Steve, Mark, etc.

Also, consider sending your friends and family an e-mail asking for their ideas. That's how our son was named Benjamin. A former colleague of mine suggested it.

We didn't name my second son until the Baby's Name Lady came into the newborns' hospital room hovering her pen over an official-looking clipboard! lol! Turns out that we picked the perfect name for that child. He lives up to its meaning. So I think sometimes it's better not to stress, and the right name sort of finds your child. Maybe that's not very helpful; I guess what I mean is don't stress - your son will end up with the right name! ( :

Congratulations!!

Our six children (three boys, three girls) all have first and middle names that are Biblical. Most people think of Biblical names as being long, drawn out things (Jeremiah, Zechariah, Abiathar, Barnabas) or antiquated things (Moses, Abijah, Amnon?). But the good news is the Bible is chock FULL of shorter, still-appropriate names.

More traditional:
Aaron
Adam
Andrew
Asher
Caleb
Daniel/Dan
David
Eli
Ethan
Isaac
Isaiah
Jacob
James
Jesse
Joel
John
Jordan
Joshua
Joseph
Luke/Lucas/Lucius
Marcus/Mark
Matthew
Michael
Paul
Peter
Philip
Samuel
Seth
Simon/Simeon
Thomas
Timothy

More unique:
Amos
Abner
Aquila
Areli
Asa
Cedron
Clement
Corban
Darius
Dathan
Elisha
Ephraim
Esau
Ezra
Felix
Jadon
Jedidiah
Jonah
Josiah
Jubal
Jude
Kedar
Kohath
Levi
Linus
Malachi
Matthias
Micah
Perez
Saul
Silas
Timon
Titus/Tytus

We had a lot of names to choose from when we decided to go the Biblical route. It happened on accident with baby #1 and by baby #2 we decided to make a "thing" of it.

Hope you find a name you can both agree on. Our first three children and baby #5 were named before they were born...Baby #4 wasn't named until two days after his birth and our last baby, #6 wasn't named for almost two weeks after her birth!

Don't sweat it. You'll find a name you both love!

I always liked the name Guy myself. I was going to name my son that, but I had also decided to give my son my maiden name for his middle name, and they wouldn't have worked together, so we went another direction. Ezra is cool too. I love old Hebrew names (although I'm not Jewish). If you want to see how popular or common a name has become, or is becoming, you can go to http://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/ type it in and see how it has been ranking.

Welcome to my daughter's world. She is due with her son on May 7.
She had a cute girl's name picked out, but that won't work.
She is having the hardest time.
Her trouble is that anything they like, they already know someone with that name or their kids are named it.
It's hard to be somewhat unique without being too out there.
I could have fainted some time ago when someone I know named her baby
Clarence. Just a good, old fashioned normal name.
Naming a kid is hard. It took 4 days after my daughter was born so maybe she's coming by this naturally.

I'm sure you'll come up with the perfect name for your baby.

Let us know when he gets here!

It's kind of fun. Some of the suggestions can be goofy, but you can plug in your last name (or first or middle if you have it) and it will pop up suggestions. You just keep clicking. Who knows...you might see something you like;-)

Hi A.. First of all Congrats! Some things to start doing besides websites is start noticing boy names or what could be a Boy's name around you. If you watch a movie-think of the character's names and watch for the list of names at the end; in books, t.v. shows, conversations, family heritage (grandpas, uncles, brothers, your husband's name and wonderful guy friends you have known through the years (prob not boyfriend in high school-unless it's your husband (ha! ha!). It will come to you. Here are some of my fav boy names:
Blake, Cade, Chance, Chase, Carter, Clark, Grant, Lance, Levi, Luke, Ryker
