Griffin, Dawson, Seth, Dalton, Abel, Colton, Malcolm, Jarrett, Evan, Forrest, Preston, Zane.....just off the top of my head.
Hey mom's,
I have a 13 month old son and am due with our second child the end of September. I will find out (if the little one is cooperative) if we are having a boy or girl in the next few weeks. We have pretty much decided on a girls name but have NO IDEA on boys names. Any ideas, I would greatly appreciate. We aren't into the "too traditional" like Joshua, Matthew, Michael, etc.... My first son we named Xander. So something rather unique, but not totally off the wall.... Thanks so much.
Griffin, Dawson, Seth, Dalton, Abel, Colton, Malcolm, Jarrett, Evan, Forrest, Preston, Zane.....just off the top of my head.
Have you thought of using family names?- I used my Husband's Mother's maiden name as my daughter's middle name.
Her first name was after my grandmother- which is not common.
Or evening using someone's middle name as a first name.
My grandfather's middle name was Coleman, My father's first name as Preston. For us neither was in the running if we had a boy- more for personal reasons- but they are somewhat unique.
my son's middle name is Dewey (after his dad and grandfather) i wanted it for his first name but his grandfather kept saying "don't do that to him" :). anyway i like that and Emory, Davis, Smith (last name as first names) i also really like Brody. i also know a lady who named her son Zane
Sawyer and Finn are my faves!
I'd recommend the following website from the Social Security administration.
http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/
We used it with both pregnancies as we definitely didn't want kids who had to be known as "Ethan W" or "Braden W" - love both names, but I didn't want them thinking the "W" was part of their real name.
You can look up names by year, by popularity, etc. If it was in the top 200, we threw it out of the running and chose really unique names. I don't share them online for security reasons, but people either love them or hate them because of how uncommon they are.
I'm a fan of Zane.
Some people use Topher as a shortened version of Christopher (like Xander is a shortened version of Alexander).
Barrett, Lennon, Cooper, Ty
I have three boys:
Bryce
Brayden
Brody.
Here are some of the names my friends have given their little ones:
Grayson
Caelon
Gage
Garrett
Luke
Mica
Rowdy
Cooper
Lawrence
Good luck with your little one.
Xander is cute and not made-up. I strongly suggest you choose a name that isn't made-up or spelled incorrectly on purpose. There's unique and then there's just weird or wrong! I like a few of the suggestions below, or hunter, Gage, Ryder, duke, dain/Dane, mason, Levi, Connor, Blake, kalen, chase.
sawyer has been one of my favorites for a long time now but it's appearing to be quite popular with all the mentions of it. you could do Alex although you werent wanting traditional but then together they create AlexXander. Cheesy I know but I'm full of them :0) Lets see what else can i come up with. Brooks, Gavin, Garret, Wyatt, Cash, Hayden, Peyton, Braydon, and anything else with a Y and ends in a on. Good luck with #2!
With Xander, I might pick Cameron or Tristin.
I have two traditional, Adam and Nicholas. I also have a Drew (Dewey) and a Reece. Drew might go well. Then instead of Alexander and Andrew you'd have a Xander and Drew. That would be cute. I also like Dorian, Doogan, Gryphen, Dalton, Perry, Parker, Wylie, Rylie, Everett. I really think that the Xander and Drew is cute because most would have an Alex and Andy. Good Luck!
Hi L.,
My son's name is Orion. I have nephew's named Christian, Kaellan, Tanner, Ty, Asher, Cannon, Earl, and Kyson.
I love your son's name. Best wishes in your search.
-K.
My little boy is Tristan, and we love the name! Best wishes for your family. I'm sure you'll find the perfect name. :)
My husband and I fell in love with the Irish name Cillian Patrick. I do believe Cillian means "warrior" in Irish, you can also spell it with a K.
Phoenix and Maddox, they will go with your x theme, are not traditional but not too crazy.
phoenix means loosley to rise from the ashes
maddox (from maddok) means benefactor, good, generous
Names that go with your other son:
Xander and Liam
Xander and Miles
Xander and Topher
Xander and Baylee
Xander and Aiden
Xander and Jakob
Xander and Jasper
Xander and Xavier
Xander and Max
Jackson (Jaxon), Cooper, Grayson, Camden? All have great nickname potential. :)
I love the name Simon. Also Max, Issac, Caleb, Jace...those sound good with Xander. Personally I love the traditional names (my 3 year old twins are James and Conner) just make sure it's a real "name" and not some made up word...some people seem to go a little overboard with the unusual names!! (but Xander is good!!!)

Have fun with your little ones!!
My sons have traditional first names, but somewhat different middle names: Seth Aryx & Jeremy Bryxton. I also like, Elias, Camden, Aidan (which means fire, pretty neat) and Lucas. Not weird, just not as popular as the ones you mentioned.

Rainn
Dane

And the way I find my most unique names is to write them down while I watch TV credits. You'll be amazed at the names of actors/producers/etc. My friend want's a unisex name, so anytime I see a name and go "is that a guy or a girl?" I write it down for her. Good luck. And congrats!
Xander is a great name for a big brother. How about Rowan, Emerson, Paxton, or Cooper for the little guy. Best wishes!!
Xavier.
Too many X's?
Wow, you have some great names here! We named our son Solomon. His middle name is Ridge which is a truncated version of his great grandfathers middle name (Aldridge). I also really loved Atticus, Cash, Gage, Phinneas or Finnegan. Good luck and have fun! Also, my husband and I didn't settle on a name until a week before Sol was born so you have plenty of time:)
My son's name is Aiden. We LOVE the name! I love that it is different but not too different to be weird. And there is about ten different spellings of it. You should look online for baby names. They have some great ideas. Good luck!!!
My son was going to be named Roby (long o) after a dear uncle. It's old fashioned but the only other place I have seen it is on a Picasso. Sawyer and Finn are great too especially if you love Mark Twain :) What is your maiden name? Your mother's maiden name? Sometimes that fits well.
Congratulations on your little one. I'm sure you'll find his perfect name!

I'm sure you will recieve many responses and hopefully you will find what you feel is reight for your son. What a fun and exciting time! If you wanted to keep within the X region and something a little out of the ordinary, Xavier is nice. Just a thought. Zachary or just Zack, I love the name Seth. Jermiah. Plenty of names!! I wanted to name my son Malikai or Ezra but was shot down because it was too unusual. Follow your heart and have fun!
Have you googled boys names and or gone to the library? Or have you thought of making you own? YOu take at least two names ie your husbands name and your name and mix them together. Another thing that is fun is to look back several generations on your family tree, and either just choose one or make one. One more Suggestion pick a favorite country in the world and choose a name from that country. Naming a new child can be challenging. Enjoy your day a well seasoned parent. Ps Congratulations on your new bundle of joy that arrives in September.

Have you tried looking through some baby name books? Or even the internet. My children are 13, 11 & 10 so I am DONE.
But I recently got a new puppy, she is tiny and so cute, she is a cream color. I love all things Asian and I was reading an artilce on China and a lady was quoted in the article and her name was Xaio Mei - which means Pearl (it can also mean other things depending upon how is it used) I loved it so that is her name.
I realize children's names are more important - but I found her name when I wasn't really looking for one.
Good Luck
