Hello K.,

I had breast reduction about 11 years ago and it took me about 6 months to competely heal. It took me about a month before I when back to work, I was ok after about a couple of months though, my scars are unnoticeable except for a small keloid that is almost gone now. Wow I hate to hear you have a skin ulcer from that.

Hello K., SORRY TO HEAR YOU ARE HAVING COMPLICATIONS. I HAD BREAST REDUCTION SURGERY A FEW YEARS AGO. IF TOOK ABOUT 2 WEEKS TO HEAL. THE HARDEST PART WAS MAKING SURE YOU SLEEP ON YOUR BACK SO YOU WILL NOT GET BLOOD CLOTS. THAT WAS TEH ONLY DOWNFALL FOR ME BECAUSE I WAS NOT A BACK SLEEPER. HAVE YOU CONTACTED YOUR DR. BECAUSE YOU DHOULDN'T BE TAKING LONG TO HEAL. I KNOW EVERY BODY IS DIFFERENT. I DO HAVE SCARSS TO BUT NOTHING NOTICABLE. I WISH YOU A SPEED Y RECOVERY LOVE D.

Hi,

I had four years ago. It took about three months to officially heal and almost six months before it to completely heal because of the scar tissue was so deep.

I had a breast reduction in 1993. My doctor told me to expect the healing time to be between 6-8 weeks. It actually took me about 4 weeks. A friend of mine suggested that I indulged in 'medicinal herbs' and from that moment on, I had no pain! As far as I'm concerned, it healed my body. I did tell my doctor who said he couldn't legally promote the use of 'medicinal herbs' but he said if it was working for me, continue to do what I was doing. That's my advise....a little non-traditional, but it worked for me. By the way, when you are healed, you will feel great. It's the best decision I've made for myself. No regrets!

Hi K.!!!
I had breast reduction surgery about 10 years ago. My skin heals very fast which one would think is great, however it really was not. Because my skin healed so fast it began to heal over the drains. Therefore, when the Dr. took them out, it caused bleeding. My overall recovery was about 2 1/2 weeks but because I lifted my god-child (I really didn't think he was that heavy at 2 months) but it caused the sutures to open and of course they could not re-stich them so it had to close back on it's own, which was very uncomfortable. That added like another 2 or so weeks. But it was oh soooo worth it. I don't have much scarring and where there is it is under my breasts. May your full recovery come soon and you be without any further complications. It is worth it in the end!!!!!

Hi K.! I am a mom of 3 also, and had my reduction surgery at the end of June. I had been looking forward to it for many years and I am so thrilled with it now that it's done! Aren't you so glad you did that? Well, maybe not yet if you're suffering with complications... I had some issues too, like with the skin around the sutures becoming irritated. That was frustrating for me but did not worry my doc, who said it is common.

Give it 72 days before you're feeling basically normal (my day 72 is coming in a couple days!). Your scars may still be pretty raised and red though. My doc did say that it takes about 6 months to a year to fully heal. I have already been back in underwire bras for a couple weeks now.

K.,
I had the same surgery 4 years ago. Give yourself a good 6 months to feel partially healed, and a year to feel whole again. It takes a while to heal from a major surgery like this. Hang in there and it is all worth it in the end.

Happy Healing,
A.

I had one about 9 years ago.....what complications are you having? It didn't take me long to heal at all....but I was only 19, and you know how fast young girls heal. When was the procedure done? It took about 2 weeks for me to be feeling better.....

I had breast reduction surgery in 2004. Unfortunately, I had several Complication myself. It all started with my very worried older child getting cat dander from a friend of her's cat (she had been babysat that afternoon while I was in recovery) As I am very allergic to cats AND had open wounds, let's just say the allergic reaction was bad!!! It prevented my right breast from healing as quickly as it might have. My left breast was fine after a couple of weeks, but after the allergic reaction i also got an infection in the right breast. Over all, with all my complications, it took 2 months for my right breats to finally feel okay. I do still have noticable scarring on both breasts though. Some people heal with little to none and some people heal with quite a bit.

I hope you get to feeling better soon. I will say, if you are at all worried go see your surgeon. If nothing else, he can make you feel better about why it's taking so long.

Good Luck!!!
