Have you considered roseola? has there been any fever?
I have twin sons that will be turning a year at the end of March. One of them has recently developed a bumpy red rash all over his tummy and back. I am pretty sure it is due to the recent change in laundry detergent. My other son has a few bumps but not as severe. I rewashed all of their clothes, but what else can I use (lotion/ cream) to help the red bumps go away. They don't seem to cause any discomfort, but I am mildly concerned as they haven't yet gone away on their own. I first noticed them about 4 days ago...any help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks

My son had EXACTLY what you describe, and yes, he does have a chemical fragrance allergy which causes his eczema to flare up. I tried several Rx meds (ones with steroids- ugh, ones without- ugh$$$). The best thing I found was to eliminate all chemical fragrances that I could (and that meant I had to stop shopping at Bath and Body Works unfortunately). Since I've been using only botanically based fragrances in our products, his eczema has smoothed out. Now I spot treat him with an essential oil baby body oil blend from the ABC line from Arbonne. And yes, since Arbonne offers everything with botanically based fragrances instead of chemical, I've become an Arbonne consultant so I can enjoy the 35% the slew of items I buy!!
If you have any questions about eczema or Arbonne, please don't feel shy to ask!!

Oh honey - my kids have skin ISSUES!
We have to use 'fragrance free' laundry detergent and softener, special soap in the tub, and special lotion!
Any soothing lotion that doesn't have a strong fragrance is good. I like Eucerin cream myself. The Aveeno with oatmeal is nice too, but doesn't work as well as the eucerin when they're all flared up. Also, Cetaphil soap is the best! Its very gentle and works like a charm!
Unless your ds had a 102+ fever for a few days, roseola seems unlikely. http://www.kidshealth.org/parent/infections/bacterial_vir...
You think it's detergent - go with that. Both of mine are extremely sensitive to a wide array of commonly used chemicals - cleaners, detergents, perfumes, lotions, soaps, shampoos, etc. If you're interested in decreasing the amount and type of household chemicals in your home, you'll find lots of 'helpers' - I guess I'll chime in - make your own (using common purchases like baking soda and vinegar). It's really much easier than most people think.
Also, I'll second the food allergy possibility.
The only other thing that I can think of to say is
Please don't start using steroid creams on your kids if they're not complaining at all about the bumps. It would only mask the underlying cause, not make it go away.

Hi S.:
I'm going to share my experience about skin problems in children, I'm sure it will help you with your twins!
I have a daughter 4 going on to 24 too!, and right after her bath she used to complain about itching and didn't want to feel the sleeves on her arms or the socks on her legs, well, I changed shampoo, body wash, laundry products, everything that could have any contact with her skin ahd right now, no more itching, no complains and a very soft skin, after the tub I apply "Renew", that works perfect for me!, if you want, I can send you a brochure with all the information about the cream by email, so give me your email address and I will email it to you.
I'll look to hear from you soon:

It sounds like it could also be a food allergy. Have they tried any new foods, if so that could also be it. I know a lot of great products you could use for your children that will never harm them, and are all natural. If you are interested, check it out. Hope this helps.
