I had that same problem and it ended up being an infection. they gave me medicine for it and it dried it up. its because of the incision and you are really not getting in air there.
I recently had a baby by c-section.What I have noticed is that when I lift my stomach, the fold of the incision has a smell to it. I wash there every time I shower and dry really well, but for some reason it has an odor. What can I put down there to make the smell go away?

I don't think I would play around with that. If I were you I would call the doctor. A smell on a wound might mean infection and that is a pretty sensitive area. I would have it checked.
Smells are usually indiciative of infection...might want to call your doctor!
Welcome to the club. I am glad I am not the only person with this problem. I have found the following helps:
make sure after you shower you dry the area thoroughly, apply a after shower type powder to the area or some antiperspirant (I use antiperspirant because I find it lasts longer than powder and is easier to apply.) If the odor remains, after your next shower, dry area thoroughly and apply some anti-fungal cream such as Lotrimin, it could be yeast.
Just keep blotting it with alcahol after each shower. Then blow dry the scar.
Go see or call your doctor!
The same thing happened with me, I asked my doctor about it and she said its because of my stomach laying on top of the incision and to keep it dry, she told me to wear a pad over the incision and that would help. After it completely healed the smell went away.

I am over weight and have this issue all the time. A yeast infection can be happening, you could be leaving it wet when taking a bath/shower, it could be sweat, etc...there are so many things it could be. I will give you the way I treat it and you can go from there.
I always use a good soap, like dial, dove, etc...a soap like you buy in the bottles that are highly moisturizing will feed the problem. Wash that area every day, if you don't bathe daily just use a clean washcloth and wash there. I use Gold Bond powder in the folds, baby powder doesn't stay dry as long as needed. Under my breasts, anywhere I want to stay dry, to heal. If the area is bumpy looking and itchy it may be yeast. I do the same thing because as soon as you get that area dry and staying dry it heals up and doesn't do that anymore.
You will hear people say to use ointments and that does not work for me. It only takes longer, stays slimey feeling. I have to keep the area especially clean and frequently medicated with powder.
that's not normal - go back to the hospital.
Baby powder or oil or a lotion just keep adding it when it comes back
If the cut is not completely healed, you need to call the doctor. I started having the same problem after my C-section over 2 years ago, and a few times a year I still do. With mine, sometimes, especially in the summer, it would be like a yeast infection, but outside. I would buy the 7 day yeast infection medicine and put there to get rid of it. It has to be the cream. Once it cleared up, I put baby powder there to keep it dry during the day, and if I was out side much I would clean there and put more baby poweder. Another thing i still use is in the deodorant section. It is called Naturally Fresh Deodorant Crystal. It has NO aluminum, it is from a natural crystal that kills the bacteria. I either buy it in the spray bottle or if only the roll-on is avaliable, i pour it in a mist bottle. One bottle last me all summer long. My grandmother buys the crystal itself. I use not just where I had the C-Section, but also on my feet.
honestly, it is yeast. Talk to your doctor and get an antibiotic. I had the same thing. A few days it will be gone.
I had the same problem after my last c-section. It smelled horrible and was always moist. I saw my doctor because I was afraid that it would get infected. He gave me a RX for clortrimozole cream. He told me to keep it as dry as I could and wash it with liquid Dial antibacterial soap twice a day. I also tucked (loosely) gauze in the fold until it healed. If it gets red, itchy, or has discharge...see your doctor immediately. Good luck and God Bless.
i have had 4 c sections and all of them i have had that smell from it. the smell will go away as it heals. the only thing that i can tell you is that try to wash it with a wash rag more often and dry it completly. if you seem to be a little more consonderd about it then just talk to your doctor about it. use a mild soap on it sometimes the fragrent soaps can cause it to get infected and start to smell too. i use dove and i havent had any of the issues that i did before. if you have any other questions about it just email me at ____@____.com
I had two c-sections. I had the same problem. My first doctor told me to use unscented pads on it after I showered. It would help keep it dry. I used them till i got my staples out. Then on my second csection i had stiches so I used the pads again. It was so much easier then using gause and tape. I know it sounds wierd but it really does work. Keeping the incision dry is the best thing for you. I was always told not to put anything on my cut.. Just to keep it dry no matter what. If you are really concerned call your doctor. I hope this helps.
Congrats on your little one!
