okay, so it has been a rough 2 months with me in relation to getting sick and being on antibiotics. It started with a severe sinus infection almost 2 months ago, took a Z-pac and was fine 2 1/2 weeks later i got a staph infection on my arm, doc prescribed Bactrim. 6 days into the antibiotic i was hospitalized with a bad allergic reaction to the bactrim that caused horrible skin lessions. at first they thought it was MRSA so they put me on IV Vancomycin. That stuff is brutal!! I had 4 bags of that over the course of 2 1/2 days. then 3 days after I got released from the hospital I caught strep throat, and a sinus and ear infection, doc put me on another Z-pac.......the ear infection has since turned into a double ear infection and the doc didnt want to put me on another antibiotic, thank God, but instead put me on eardrops.....one ear has no pain or discomfort at all any more and the other still has some but feels better....BUT, i can barely hear anything from my left ear, and not much better in my right ear. plus i hear a constant ringing. I know the hearing loss and ringing can be from the ear infections, I had those non stop when i was a little girl and actually have a 20% hearing loss in both ears because of it. Could the hearing loss and ringing be caused by so many antibiotics??? i think the call it ototoxicity. I know I need to talk to my doc and I will when he gets back next week, but just wondered if any of ya'll had any ideas. TIA!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh yeah, have been on the eardrops for about 3 days now

So What Happened?

oh wow i never even thought about the carbs, we are big rice and potato eaters here. i've been trying to cut out the soda pop and have been doing pretty good with having one only every other day or so, which is a big accomplishment for me!! we are non-smokers, quit about 4 years ago.

are probiotics in yogurt or are they in pill form?

The other suggestions so far may help. Eating well is never a bad idea! When I was on mega antibiotics for an infected c-section my doctor had me take my prenatal vitamins plus vitamin D. I added a probiotic on my own (it's always a help with antibiotics but don't take at the same time of day). You sound really run down from all this.

OMG Well I do know that there is one antibiotic that has a side effect of causing people to go deaf. But they don't give that without the proper signatures and warnings.

You need to build up your immune system again. If I were you, in addition to prayer, immersing yourself in the word, and resting as much as you can find the time, I'd make a huge pot of soup everyday with lots of vegetables, cut out all sugar for just a few weeks, put lots of garlic and chicken in your soups and guzzle it with lots of broth. Add a freaking huge amount of vitamin c spaced out through the day. Don't forget onions and raisins have anti-viral properties in them too.

My first thought reading this is that you need to try low-carbing. The bacteria are just loving you a little bit too much!!! Give them less sugar, less starches and see if that has any effect. You might even be an undiagnosed Type II diabetic, or pre-diabetic. Get some bloodwork to find out - your doctor should be onto that already, but sometimes they don't think of the whole patient, just the current illness.

Also if you're a smoker, that has a big effect. I have a friend that tries to quit smoking about once a year, and when she isn't smoking, she's hardly ever sick. When she relapses, then its one thing after another.

I'm so sorry about all you've been through, and hope you turn the corner soon!

Find a Doctor of Holistic Medicine. You have to many chemicals in your body and it can't heal itself.

In the meantime try chamomile tea. Chamomile tea removes toxins from the body, it makes you pee and sweat. If you don't like the taste try using one tea bag of chamomile and one bag of mint tea. Make sure you use just the herbs no black or green tea. I use a 12 cup drip coffee maker, put the tea bags in the pot and let the hot water drip in, steep 3-5 minutes, drink all of it in one day. You should feel better the next day but drink another pot the 2nd day.

Hope you feel better.

GET ON PROBIOTICS!!!! Every good little thing in your body has been stripped out of you so now nothing is left to help fight the nasty things.
I had a family friend who took an antibiotic and a dormant bug woke up and attacked her bowls and nothing was there to fight or help protect her. Now 75% of her intestines are gone because they died. She had to wear a poop bag (cloustrum? No that's not the right) for months. She was lucky that they finally took it off and she can now go by herself.
Soo. . .GET ON A PROBIOTIC!

Just very basically... have you been taking 600-800mg of ibuprofen to reduce the swelling? & Taking pseudoephedrineHCl (the original sudafed, now behind the counter but no Rx, just ID to buy) to drain away the congestion?

Also... high fat diet for your immune system (antibodies are almost 100% pure fat, with a little protein thrown in for structure), NO calcium during your antibiotics (calcium bonds to most antibiotics rendering them inert), and a lot of active culture yogurt (I know, calcium, but you're off the antibiotics for now) to reestablish the beneficial bacteria in your gut?

And... here's the "worst" of them all... have you been sleeping/ not exercising? ((exercising -and other forms of stress- stimulates adrenaline, which shuts off our immune systems))

OK first yes probiotics come in pill form. go to a health food store and they will naturally help you. and go to a chiropractor. that will help too. get off all those synthetic drugs and let your body try to heal itself. you are so over medicated. and pray. that always works.
