Absolutly! My 5 month old has the same issue but everyday he gets a little better at tummy time. He has to be almost to the next feeding so that his tummy isn't as full but we are slowly getting there.

I can say that at least in our family, it does. My nephew had reflux, and hated being on his stomach. My own son, who also had reflux as an infant, also hated it.

What I did for my LO was I rolled up a towel really tightly, or used a smallish pillow, and propped his arms over it, so that he was still working the same muscles (lifting the head & neck, etc.), but he wasn't actually resting on his stomach to do it; he was resting sort of on his armpits/arms.

Absolutely. My son didn't but my neice did. My SIL did the same thing as a PP. Used a rolled up towel, and then later a "boppy".

My kiddo hated being on his tummy as well, but not from reflux. Just hated it. I had no idea at the time one was *supposed* to make them be on their stomachs... so I just didn't. He learned to sit up, roll over, (beg... sorry... couldn't resist, it's getting late aparently and I'm getting loopy). ANYHOW, he learned to do everything he was supposed to, he just did it in his own time. The first time he spent any time on his stomach was also the first time he started "crawling". (He started crawling like he had no knees or elbows. Everything perfectly straight. And on his knuckles for lord only knows why). He learned to crawl before he learned to roll over. After he had crawling down it occured to him, it seemed, that instead of walking his feet under his face to sit, he could just lower himself down and flip over. Probably the whole first year he spent maybe 5 minutes tops on his stomach, and it was the 1 second thing between crawling and sitting.

I have acid reflux and I do feel it more when laying on my stomach watching tv, reading, etc. I think because I am using my core muscles to hold me up and that pushes on my stomach and it is pushing the acid up. Wait for as long as possible after eating and hopefully a bowel movement so things "keep moving" and that should help a little.

my youngest had acid reflux and hated tummy time! everytime she had tummy time she would be ok for a few minutes then she would just start screaming. the dr said not to worry about it and she would catch up when she outgrew the reflux. by the time she was 1 she had pretty much outgrown the reflux and was walking, crawling and doing everything she was suppossed to be.

My youngest hated tummy time. At 6 months she still couldn't roll over. Just relax. Every child develops at their own rate. Try to do tummy time about 30 minutes before she is due to eat. That way the stomach is emptier. My daughter finally started rolling over around 7 months.

My older son just plain hated being on his belly! He had some respiratory issues, and we thought maybe that was why, but he did eventually start to roll over at around 8-9 mos and though we thought he would skip it altogether, started crawling around 11 mos (he started cruising and stadning unassisted at around 8-9 mos).
My younger son (who was diagnosed early on with reflux) LOVES being on his belly. That is the only way he would sleep for the longest time. He started rolling over (after the initial incident at 3 days- freaked us out!) when he was about 4-5 mos, and started crawling at 6.5 mos. He's now pulling up to stand & cruising a bit at just shy of 8mos.
I think they're all just different and will do things in their own time.

Yes definitely. My first had it and hated tummy time my second doesn't have it and loves tummy time. But my first still learned to crawl fine and walked at 11months, so it shouldn't cause any trouble bc she will probably just stay off her belly but still continue acquiring skills just fine/

If the belly is overfeed then Tummy time could be uncomfortable and increase reflux by pressure, but if no over feed then should no increase gerd, check www.childrenshealthexperts.com very good for volume and schedule feeding and reflux conditions

Yes.

Or, she just does not like tummy time.

Speak to your Pediatrician about it, per her reflux.

She does not yet, "have to" be rolling over or sitting up on her own. She is 6 months old... not all babies are 'mastering' these movements yet.

Yes, I just read an article on Yahoo News about how bad it is to sleep on your stomach, for acid reflux and your other organs as well. The article may still be there.
