I'm looking for a good umbrella stroller for my 7 month old. I've been looking around for a little while now and I like the Maclaren Volo and Triumph. I'm looking for something light weight and easy to fold. I have a lightweight stoller, jogging stroller, and a sit n-stand already. Just want something small, that would be good for vacation too. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for your advice. I ended up going with the Volo after much debate. I went to Babies R Us and was set to buy the triumph. It weighed the same as my Inglesina Stroller and was very similar. Just wanted something that traveled well and would be good to bring on the train, etc. My mom went with me, and said she'd buy it for me for my b-day. Double bonus!

Love my Chicco Capri. Lightweight but not flimsy, folds quickly, and has a 5-pt harness (goes over shoulders, not just around waist). The canopy is fully-adjustable so you can move it wherever the sun is coming in. It has a small recline as well (enough for a nap). We use it instead of the full-size stroller now!

Hi

I just got the Maclaren Volo on ebay - I LOVE IT! It's easy, lightweight, and my little man seems to find it very comfortable.

I highly recommend ebay and craigslist---Good luck!

I got a great "souped" up umbrella stroller at Target - it folded in half but was small enough to fit in any car (okay Smart Card maybe not), had a basket below, even reclined, had a tray for grown ups up top and another tray for the kid and was super lightweight. It was so great that when the tray for the kid wore out (airline mishap) and duck tape wouldn't stay we bought another one (we traveled road, flying & Disney with it many, many times). The cost less than $50 - I can't recall who made it - Cosco or Graco? I think. My youngest is 6 now (and we still have the stroller for when younger kids visit), but I still see it at Target - just the pattern changes.

We got the Maclaren Triumph to take to Italy on vacation. Worked perfectly...enough of a recline and a big enough basket to hold gear when you're out for a day sightseeing. I did by a sun shade extender as the umbrella didn't provide enough coverage.

I haven't tried it out yet, but i just ordered the Mia Moda Facile. It has great ratings, a 5 pt harness and reclines. I've been researching this for awhile and finally decided to order this one. It was $59.99 at www.chitchatbaby.com with no shipping charge or sales tax plus there was a coupon for 5% off. It should be arriving any day now and I'll let you know how I like it. For all it offers, I thought this was a great price.

If you don't want to drop a ton of $, I highly recommend the Evenflo X Sport Plus (or without the "Plus" if you're not tall and don't need it to be height adjustable). I've been thrilled with it. You can find it for about $60 on Amazon and free shipping. Sun canopy is totally adjustable to shade your little one. See the great reviews it gets on Amazon. It even has a rather decent basket to hold stuff underneath the kiddo and a place to hold bottles of water. Only drawback in my book is that it does not recline. But my 11 month old son had fallen asleep in it anyway.

I'm just going to echo everyone who says Maclaren Volo. We *love* ours, it's the stroller we have used the most since my daughter was 5 months old (she's now almost 2.5 years.) It's light, really folds easily with one hand, and has survived multiple plane trips (you can take it right to the plane and gate-check, so no extra costs).

We purchased the Maclaren Triumph for our vacation. Were considering the Volo too, but some reviews talked about the Volo cutting into the back of their child's legs. We also liked the Triumph's ability to lay back a little bit. Was great for our trip, and I love using it for trips around town too!

you might like triumph better than volo for the reason that triumph can be recline. Go to Maclaren website and compare the different stroller that they have.
I just bought mine on craiglist. You can find a good condition stroller for a fraction of the cost. Keep in mind, when you go to theme park, you have to leave your stroller somewhere and there is a chance of get stolen. Yeah, I experience such thing, my stroller got switch, exactly the same stroller only more worn out ;(. I still took my cheap $20 umbrella stroller to this place where I cannot keep my eyes on it.

Hi M.,
I was also looking at the Maclarens and was going to get the Triumph. Then a friend steered me towards the Uppa Baby Gluxe and I am so happy. It weighs less then the Triumph, reclines all the way, and only costs $159. We bought ours on Amazon and it had free shipping and no tax. Good luck!

The Uppa Baby G-lite is great, the but G-LUXE is even better b/c it's one of the only umbrella stroller that reclines back! That was a must for me.

I have a Volo and I LOVE IT. I love that it is so small and lightweight. While it has no frills, it's great when you quickly need to fold it up and throw it over your back.

I took my daughter to the Zoo last Friday and she was super comfy and happy in it. AND, gramma could just carry the stroller down stairs, in an open position, without any effort --daughter wasn't in it. You can literally carry the thing with two fingers it's so light.

I'm really happy I went with the lightest of the bunch.

I HIGHLY recommend the Maclaren Volo- we absolutely LOVE it. It folds up so easily (one hand!) and takes up very, very little space. And I love the strap on the back- just tote it on your shoulder if necessary! Perfect for traveling and any other occasion!
And if you want to save on cost, check craigslist- Maclarens are durable and there is always a market for them. And when you're done with it, you can put it back on craigslist!

I love my Triumph. My 3 year old has been using it since she was 6 months, but my 7 year old can also sit in it (up to 55 lbs). I prefer the Triumph over the Volo because it is a more supportive back (volo is slingback) and it adjust to different heights so we can lay down a sleeping child.

I purchased it because I needed light weight for my back and umbrella for my car. I still LOVE it. It has a carrying strap for "running through the rain", it has a plastic rain guard that I use more for wind (touring the Smithsonian in March she stayed warm).

Spins on a dime, 5 pt harness, nice for tall parents (5'10" and 6'), storage underneath...

Good luck!

I absolutely LOVE the volo. It is so easy to fold up and down and is easy to navigate. It also has a carrying strap which is like a backpack. My son has always been comfortable in it, and I started using it when he was about 8 months old. I would recommend buying it in a darker color (I think there is a brown one) because it can get dirty when you fold it up (the wheels touch the shade). Overall, it was one of the best purchases I made!

Sounds like the Uppa Baby G-lite is what your looking for. It's the lightest one out there at 8.3 lbs., so great for travel and Parent magazine tested.

I love my Inglesina Swift. Bigger wheels than the MacLarans. Weighs 11 lbs and can fold and unfold with one hand. GOt mine at Beautiful Beginnings in Lincoln Park.

There are a lot of great umbrella strollers out there, many mentioned above. One thing to keep in mind is whether they recline or not. The volo does not, while the triumph does. At 7 months you don't 'need' the recline, but if your daughter naps in the stroller (or you want her too :) ), you'd probably be happier with the triumph or a quest over the volo. I use our baby jogger city mini for travel, which is bigger, and not an umbrella fold. It is still lightweight, folds super fast and easy, and pushes like a dream.
