I need to identify a highly reputable hospital around the Oldham County area or Louisville, KY. in the cardiac specialty. I am 45 yrs. old mother of an eight and five year old. During my last pregnancy I developed peripartum cardiomyopathy. This is a life threatening condition not related to my lifestyle choices nor to any genetic predispositions. Statistically speaking I was an unlikely candidate. I am moving to the Buckner area this summer, from Atlanta, Georgia. I need to seek the best and most knowledgeable hospital and cardilogists. Much appreciative of your recommendations.

What can I do next?

Try someone at Cardiovascular Associates. Their main office is on Breckenridge Ln near Baptist Hosp and Suburban Hosp. They are a large group andhave someone who specializes in about anything!
It would be about a 20 min drive for you. There's not a lot in Oldham Co but thisis close.
On the other hand, there's an AWESOME pediatrician's office there! Try Oldham County Pediatrics in LaGRange (exit 22 off I-71) Just up the highway from Buckner and exit or two. They are awesome!!!!!

Hi! I just wanted to let you know that Jewish Hospital in downtown Louisville is a great place to go - they have an outstanding cardiac unit. My father had a heart attack 7 years ago at age 51 and they saved his life. My mom worked for 10 years in the heart transplant unit so she knew the best doctors. Dr. Brian Ganzel (his group)is the best of the best. He took care of both my father and my grandmother (4 heart surgeries for her in the last 20 yrs and she is still around at age 87). Dr. Ganzel was her surgeon, but she regularly sees Dr. Raible who is in the group with Dr. Ganzel. They are excellent. Hope that helps some. Good luck to you, and welcome to Louisville! I live in Oldham County too- you'll love it!

Well, it's not that close to Oldam County about 20 - 25 miles away but I have a friend who is an RN and does Cardiac recovery at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. It is a state of the art facility and I cant say enough good things about it. He has worked at other hospitals and says that by far and away the patient care at Floyd...specifically in the Cardiac Care unit is the Best! I'm sure if you call there they can give you names of cardiologists to check out. Hope this helps! Welcome to Louisville!
