I really need to get our carpets cleaned.
Could anyone recommend a good company?
I was thinking of using ChemDry. I think they are in Lake Orion.
We thought of renting a machine to do it. But I'm not sure if it would be as good as a company that comes to your house.
Thanks.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, I decided to go with ChemDry.
They came today (Dino) and did over half my house.
I think it looks ok. Of course, since we haven't cleaned our carpets in 3 years I don't expect them to look like new. And only 1 room has newer carpet (2 years old). The rest of the house has builders carpet, burber, and is around 7 years old.
Thanks for the advice.

Hi Lola,
Please try to ask around and get a company that will use safe, green products. I personally know 2 small children that got Kawasaki syndrome after mom and dad had their carpets cleaned. The little boy in Grand Blanc probably has permanent heart damage. This also happened to John Travolta's son- he has been on TV talking about it. I also know of a 2 year old that died 13 hours after putting 2 squirts of Resolve carpet cleaner in his mouth. Carpet cleaning chemicals are among the most dangerous products.
Call around and ask different companies what they use. If you want to do your own carpets safely, try Shaklee's Basic H in the water reservoir- it is non-toxic and does a good job.
Take care of those little ones.
M.

I can tell you there is no machine you can rent that would be as good as a someone coming to your home if they truly are a professional. My brother in law was in residential for about 15 years, now he is only in commercial. While this is a company he never worked for as he only worked for the Hagopian families, he still says he would use Service Master only.

I found their ad in the Suburban Lifestyles. I haven't used them yet, but plan to. Last time we had our carpets cleaned the smell of the chemicals in the cleaner bothered my allergies for days...

I've used Dino from ChemDry twice now and I said the last time I wouldn't use him again. First, he's nice, quick and efficient. But the "dry" cleaning method he uses just doesn't quite cut it. The first time he came out while everything was still wet the carpets looked fantastic. Then the next day I suspected some of the old spots were still showing through but with a 3 year old and a 2 year old, two 100 pound dogs and others running around I couldn't be sure we hadn't already gotten new spots. After he came back the second time I was sure that his equipment just doesn't really get the stains out. I think if you have surface issues and just general dirt then he would be fine but if you have juice stains or something else I would try someone else.

Hi Lola--- I don't really have advice on a carpet cleaner or particular system, but I would seriously consider what sort of process to use considering that you are pregnant. I would do everything in my power to make sure that no chemicals or only natural, non-toxic products are used. I am studying to be a Wellness Educator and I am learning that, even though certain products have been deemed 'generally recognized as safe' by the FDA, some experts suggest that the combination of all of the chemicals that we injest and are exposed to, create problems in our bodies. It could be why there has been the marked increase in ADHD and autoimmune disorders, which include asthma and allergies.

Good luck. D. www.dianeshealthed.com

We use Chemdry and they are fabulous! I couldn't believe how amazing our carpets looked :) HE even managed to to get rid of dried candle wax from our carpets. I would never use anyone else! We tried getting a machine but not only was it a pain and took forever!
