Hi - I live and sell real estate in this area. West Plano has one great school that I know personally about; Prince of Peace Catholic; it's grades 1 through 8. They also have a Childrens Learning Center for kids 2 to 5. The school is very affordable and it just won the coveted Blue Ribbon School award from the Department of Education. It's located near Preston and Plano Parkway. ###-###-####. I'd call now because they usually have a wait list for first grade. Good luck!

My kids go to All Saints Catholic School. The school is on Coit Rd. at Frankford (not at the same location as the church). We also are a blue ribbon school. I have friends whose children attend Prince of Peace, St. Mark's, and St. Paul's and they are all good schools too. The biggest difference between them and All Saints is class size. Our Kindergarten has 20 per class, 1st through 8th max is 22. Other Catholic schools have up to 30 per class. You need to look the fall before you want to enroll. Applications are usually due in January and acceptance letters are mailed in March.

We live in Frisco and we were attending St. Rita Catholic School in Dallas since my daughter was in Kinder then we moved while she was in the 4th grade. The school is a very good school. The down fall is the drive because when we sold our house in Dallas and moved here to Frisco the drive wasn't even on our minds. We have her know at Prestonwood Christian Academy. I feel we made the right move even though my daughter misses all of her friends there at St. Rita. Prestonwood is preparing the kids for college and it's a very challenging school. 50% is children who belong to the church and the other 50% is diversity of many other religious. We are Catholic but going to school there has not change how we feel about God and our believe. Our daughter is in the 5th grade know and has really bloomed like a flower there. The teachers are very good and they put a stop to kids picking on others and many other things. She has many friends there and I am so proud of her that she has been very sucessful so far. Prestonwood is not that type of school that wants you to change your religion. They just want to know that you do believe in God and have family values in your home because that is where it starts anyway. We have attended some events but as I said, we still attend our church. We are members at St.Francis in Frisco but no Catholic School. They are just know starting to build the new parking lot and then the new church. Father Tim Heins is wonderful. I hope this helps you out. Sincerely, M. Banzhof of Frisco, TX

St. Elizabeth is Spring Creek area in Plano and St. Marks is across from Collin Creek Mall. Prince of Peace in W. Plano/Carrollton area. I have a friend who is the facilities manager for St. Elizabeth, it is a great parish. My hubby grew up in St. Marks Parish, & went to Catholic school there until 6th grade.

D.,

When we moved here almost 3 years ago, we were looking for a Catholic School in this area also...There is not a Catholic School in Frisco or McKinney currently. We looked at St. Mark's in Plano and St. Paul's in Richardson...They have 2 totally different atmospheres. You need to attend them during the day to see what environment you're wanting for your girls. I believe both school are good, but so different.

It was too far to drive and too expensive (4 children) so I am home schooling my boys with a Catholic School program.

St. Elizabeth is a great parish; but, it does not have a school. The only Catholic elementary schools in Plano/Frisco/McKinney are: St. Mark's & Prince of Peace. Neither Frisco nor McKinney have schools, yet. (I live in Richardson and educated all three of my children K-12 in Dallas Diocese Catholic Schools -- St. Paul, Bishop Lynch and John Paul II.) Both schools in Plano have very good reputations. I suggest you visit each one to get the feel of the school. It's been my experience that each school has its own personality and you need to find the one that fits your family best.

Good Luck!
