CD 10 Year Old Wants for Christmas

Wal-Mart sells only edited Albums, at least I'm almost certain. I've never seen a CD there with parental advisory on it. If it's edited I shouldn't be to bad, or at least good enough for the radio (know what I mean?) but If they don't sell an edited version then he peobably doesn't need it that bad. And he's 10 so he is old enough to understand why he can't have it yet if you explain t to him! Hope that helps, good luck.

P.S. I'm trying to buy for an 8 week old, good thing she's too little to know the difference, she getting mostly clothes for the next year.

They are very hard metal band .I feel its not ok for a 10yr old.The only song that is ok is through the glass.I was downloading songs and from this band .I looked at my hubby and he said you didn't know they areheavy metal.hope that helps .S. mother of a 10yr old boy

Wal-Mart sells edited CD's (They'll say edited on them if its neccessary that they be edited--pretty much the radio version. I work in electronics--that's how I know), so if you're worried, see if it's available there. Some artists don't allow their CD's to be sold at Wal-mart because they don't want an edited version to be available.

You may be able to look up the lyrics on the internet. Google the artist and album + lyrics and see what comes up. Also, you can go to Amazon.com and such sites and read reviews on the album.

While the CD does have some questionable language, musically it is a very good CD. Stone Sour is one of my favorite bands. In my opinion as long as you talk to your child and explain that certain language is not acceptable in general, and some in any, conversation the CD should be ok.

I haven't heard of this particular cd BUT... if you were to buy the edited version it can't be any worse than what's on the radio.

I'm probaly to relaxed about what my 5 year listens too. But she knows every song on kdwb (mommy's fav.station) and it's all edited but even at her age she knows what the right word is or what's bleeped out. I just don't make a big deal about it. Swearing is so common you can't get away from that unless you go total christian music but I try and stay away from music that is to sexual or degrading to woman and that's about all I can do. If you don't allow certain music they will just go to a friends house or some other means and still do it.

My parents flipped out back in 1991 when I asked for a Ice-T cd and they overheard how horrible it was a took it back to the store asap. I still listened to it just at a friends house and it didn't warp me or make me a crazy kid or anything.

Take this as an opportunity to TALK to your son. (I'm a Stone Sour fan myself- what a cool kid!) :)
Maybe you can look up the lyrics together, and discuss his questions before his friends distort them. Maybe you can even I-Tunes the few songs he knows from the radio- and make him a special 'clean' mix.
This is a great way to show him you're really into what he's into- and want to support his tastes. It's also a great way to put the foot down if you feel it's not appropriate for his age.

I'm not familiar with Stone Sour but our kids listen to whatever we listen to. That can be either Rascal Flatts, AC/DC, NWA, Ice Cube, Keane, Dashboard Confessional, Robert Downey Jr., The Used or Toby Keith. We listen to everything - no, I listen to everything. My husband listens to cRAP. He likes the old school rap - the stuff that you could understand and that was good and original. Not the stuff today that all sounds the same and is completely pointless saying the same thing line after line after line. Sorry - soo off the point!

Basically what I am meaning to say is that my 6 year old picks what she listens to. She has Rascal Flatts, Blue October, the Cheetah Girls and the soundtrack to the Disney Channel movie Pixel Perfect in her CD player. If it has swear words, I don't mind because she hears it on the bus, in the store, from her grandpa who won't stop. I can't prevent it so I will let her listen to what she likes.
