Has anyone heard of a shot being given to children and causing the child get the flu?? I am trying to find out if its true!!
Doctors say that NO, you can not get sick from it.
However, many of the people I know that get the shot do end up sick. Coincedence or not???? I guess everyone needs to make their own decision.
The shots are not alive so you do not get the flue from them BUT if you are getting sick it could be you either picked something up wherever you got the shot and with your immune system temporarily weakened because it is "battling the shot" it is easier for other live viruses to effect you.
Another reason one might feel sick is because of an allergic reaction to the shot. For me I am allergic to eggs and many of the flu shots are incubated in eggs and whenever I got one I would get VERY sick the following day. I did not put two and two together till much later in life (was in high school and stopped getting the flu shot and no longer was sick the following day).
The mist that they put in the nose is a LIVE virus and one can get sick from that.
I don't find that to be true.You may have the virus in your body and just by coincindence get sick after receiving the shot beliving the shot gave you the flu
Here is the answer....if you are getting a shot, NO, it can't cause you to get the flu because it's not a "live virus". If you become sick after getting this shot that means you were already carrying the bug and would have come down with it. The nasal one IS a "live virus", that's why if you have certain risk factors they don't want you to get this one.
Vaccines/immunizations work by actually putting some of the live organism or something that resembles it into your bloodstream to allow your body to build the appropriate antibodies to fight future exposure.
Vaccines can have the potential to cause side effects that mimic flu symptoms, and I'm sure it is possible that there may be coincidental vaccination and flu infection, but vaccines don't actually cause the flu.

I'd always encourage you to verify either by calling your pediatrician and asking (I've learned they don't judge for what we may think are silly questions) or to visit reputable medical sights (AAP.org, MayoClinic.com, etc).
As far as regular immunizations, no, it will not cause the actual flu, but the child may get flu like symptoms. Check with your doctor... some children react to different shots, and some may get some of the side effects, one being flu or cold symptoms, maybe even a low grade fever. The only thing I've heard recently was from my boyfriends stepmother... apparently there are doses out there of the rotovirus immunization that may have been tainted with H1N1... my son had already gotten that shot though, and did not get sick.
the nasal version of the flu vaccine can cause the recipient to get a version of the flu because it is a live version of the virus. but in general no immunizations don't cause the flu.
Yes, usually every time I got the shot as a kid I got sick. Doctors expect that you can feel some cold or flu like symptoms but the shot doesn't give you the actual flu. When you get the flu shot they are giving you a shot of the dead virus. But it is common to get a little of the symptoms but it should pass in 24 hours. If not then I'd talk to your doctor about it.
