I am with the one that said the are scrungier than the rest.... I am lucky to get them all changed once a month. Unless there is a spill.

I have a hard enough time keeping all the clothes clean while working and everything else... maybe this will be a goal in the next house... all linens every two weeks.... maybe not...

I generally try to change the sheets once a week, every two weeks at the most. I think it helps to keep the rooms fresher, the beds more comfortable, and in flu season helps keep the germs at bay.

About every 2 weeks pending there are no accidents from a kid, dog, food,etc...Somehow those potato chips manage to walk out of the pantry themselves and all the way to my bed and then they proceed to crush themselves in my sheets. Funny how that happens, huh?

I don't actually change my sheets. I bought a bigger bed and only have 1 set to fit it right now but I do take my sheets off and wash them about 1x a week or every other week. It depends on how much activity my bed has seen and such. Hope this helps ya, Shannon G.

I grew up with the bed linens changed once a week and have maintained that practice all of my life, so far. I am 56. Naturally if there was an accident it got changed immediately! I am only writing about the sheets and pillow cases here!!! The mattress pads were a monthly wash and the blankets and bedspreads less often. I didn't wash the blankets more than 3 times a year and the bedspreads every two months unless they got dirty in the meantime.
Don't know what other people do. This is just the way I was raised.

I typically change sheets every 5 - 7 days. I think most people do every week, usually Sat because they are off and weekends just work better.

Growing up, we changed our bedding every Saturday. As a parent, I seem to only do it when "it's ready". Since my sons get baths before they go to bed and put on clean PJ's, and don't drool much, their bedding doesn't soil quickly. My 5 month old has pads underneath his head and bottom area that I wash every couple weeks or sooner, but I haven't changed the fitted sheet in a month or so.

My 4 year old has a tent bed made of Nylon, so I'll wash his blankets and pillow case every few weeks or sooner, but the tent bed goes about a month or two.

However, I'll change them immediately when there is an accident, they are sick, or something obvious is on it.

I work full-time and simply don't have the luxury to wash bedding sooner than is necessary.

I hope this helps.

I personally change bedding every weekend or if the toddlers spill something on the sheets. When skin flakes off, it attracts a higher number of mites. I like to keep the bedding clean to reduce the reproduction of mites. I've heard bedding should be changed every 4 days, but I personally can't keep up with that. I usually change bedding on weekends or when I do laundry.

I've heard that high numbers of mites in the bedding and the mattress will encourage allergies. My family all suffers with pretty bad allergies, so I figure anything extra I can do to help the little ones sleep can only help. Children often have skin allergies like eczema, so clean linens helps that as well.

Hi, I change all the sheets once a week unless they get dirty or sweaty then I change them more often. I never keep the same sheets on more than a week. I also have a trick to washing the sheets. You know how the pillow cases have that sweat smell on them all the time? Well, I add 1 cup of ammonia to a large load of laundry and it brightens and takes out smells. If you use too much ammonia, it will make the laundry smell moldy. So you use 1 cup for a large load and 1/2 cup for a smaller load. I use it in all my laundry. It's great for whites. I know this is more information than you asked for, but I just wanted to share.

To agree with most, I change our bedding every two weeks, and my toddler's once a week. I do his when I do his laundry, change his changing table cover, and wash his favorite stuffed animal (he sucks on its ear)- we have several extras to rotate in.

My mom always washed our sheets once a week. I just had a new baby and that was too much work for me while I was pregnant, so I get to ours about once every two weeks unless one of the kids is sick or has an accident. Then I change them as needed.

For my grade-school age son, who only spends the night at my house twice a week, I change his sheets once a month. I change my toddler's sheets once a week, and I change mine and my hubby's sheets approximately three times a month, but there's no set schedule - just whenever it seems like they need the cleaning!

I'm either way scrungier than average, or there are lots of people who are embarrassed at how seldom they change their sheets. If I'm feeling industrious, it will be two weeks between washings. More likely a month. We're still alive, so I guess it's okay. Plus, we have no one with allergies at our house; that would change things, I expect.

Hi T.,
What is normal? I'm not sure..but I do know that I usually change my sheets on my bed every week or two. For my kids its usually every week for sure. My kids' great grandmother used to change them every 3 days. And their grandmother don't change the sheets unless someone has actually slept in the bed. At her house they are always on the go, so its rare that they actually get to sleep in the bed at home. I also have noticed that someone has told you to use ammonia, first off that isn't safe for small kids to breath in or if you're pregnant. So best off use a few tablespoons of arm and hammer baking soda and that works wonderful and there is no nasty smell what so ever!

A lot of it depends on the season for me. My two daughters have allergies, so I try to change them more often in the spring and fall when pollen is the heaviest. The pollen often rests in the linens and so washing them more often...like at least once a week...seems to help. I also change the master bedroom sheets more during the summer because my husband sweats a lot more at night. However, during the winter, I sometimes let them go two weeks because they just don't seem to get that dirty. Also, if anyone gets sick, I always wash everything...bedspread, blankets...and air out pillows.

My mother, who is a bit old fashioned, alwasy changed hers once a week. I do always put clean linens on the bed when we have guest staying the night.

Hope this helps!
