CHEAP Baby Scrapbook Idea

Not a question, but an idea........
You may have heard of this idea before...I am finally working on my son's scrapbook. (he is 2 years old, hehe) I kept all of the cards we received from our baby shower and welcome home baby cards. I was going through them and realized how cute they are. Instead of throwing them out, I cut the pictures and sayings and used those to decorate the pages. This way you are saving money, getting great ideas for pages, recycling and keeping the cute parts of the cards for memories. Scrapbooking can get expensive so this is a little way to save a little extra $$$.

What can I do next?

This is a great idea.
I did the same for my son's 1st birthday. I even included some of the personal notes that were included. Now that my son is almost 12, he can read those notes for himself and realize how much he has been loved by many special people.

Ok, now, the real question, how did you finally find time to do the scrapbook? When you find that magical answer, please respond =)

I made a very inexpensive scrapbook with my baby shower cards. I bought plain white 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock (Wal-mart, less than $4 per pack). I attached the cards right to the page and if I had a photo of the gift or the giver I put it right on the page with the card. You could also put a picture of your child wearing/playing with the gift. you could attach pieces of ribbon or wrapping paper if you have it from the gifts. If you didn't want to keep the whole card you could use craft scissors to cut out the part you want to keep. I didn't add any stickers or colored paper because the cards were enough decoration for me. I did both sides of the cardstock and slipped the page into a clear page protector and put the pages into a 3 ring binder. I can pull the pages out and read the inside of the card. my shower was so wonderful. each person wrote personal words of advice on an index card and i put that with the cards and a photo of me with the giver. i love to look at the book. it brings back happy memories of that wonderful day. I probably have less than $10 in the whole book. have fun!

Time to scrapbook?
Best thing to do is get together with ONE friend (too many friends can get distracting) and set aside ONE FULL DAY to scrapbook. (It seems that once you get everything set out and you're on a roll, you ahve to clean everything up again.)

My 2 cents.

I'm a scrapbooking consultant and have links to a lot of free scrapbooking ideas on the web. Let me know if you want me to forward them to you.

I'm a consultant, too (CM), and my one piece of advice is to be careful not to touch your photos to any memorabilia on the page (cards, balloons, brochures, etc.). These items all contain acid, which will damage your photos over time. If you are not using CM pages (which are buffered to neutralize acid coming in contact with them), you will still have the problem of acid transferring to your page and then to the pictures. (Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I've still never seen another company that's buffering their pages or papers.) One thing you can do to keep using these cute resources you've been collecting--and I do this often--is to pick up a pack of CM paper and use it to mat the photos that are going on pages with memorabilia. The buffering in the paper will protect your photo from the acid that's behind it. Eleven years of experience speaking, and I've seen too many damaged photos to remain silent!

that is a great idea I love to scrapbook and don't always have the time or money. I saved a lot of cards and even valentine cards I can use from school days.
Thanks,
P.

You may want to invest in a spray that takes the acid out of your card paper because the acid can discolor your photos. You can buy it at any scrapbook store. After all your work and time invested in your priceless project, you don't want to jeopardize your pictures. Happy memories!
