So I have heard and read that pampers diapers cause chemical burns when stool and urine come into contact with the diaper.. Is this true or not? Cause i'm currently having to use them because its all I have but if they do cause chemical burns then I will leave right now and go get huggies. Please help clarify this for me. Thank you.

What can I do next?

I've never heard of this. I suggest it's highly unlikely to be true. No company would be in business if something this serious were to happen. I Googled this and found that Snopes said this is false.

Of course not. They would have been recalled and there would be incredible news reports on this, and they'd be off the store shelves. Urban legends and rumors get started for all kinds of reasons: jealous competitors, rouge internet posters looking for attention, pranks/hoaxes, etc.

An excellent place to check every rumor or claim is Snopes.com - they are very good at breaking down whether something is true, false, or a mixture, and they give their sources. I always check all the crazy claims you see on Facebook or those chain emails to, before I re-post or forward them. A lot of things sound logical but are totally false claims; others have SOME facts but a faulty conclusion. Just because it's on the internet doesn't mean it's true. Just because there's some truth to it doesn't mean that the conclusion is accurate.

Just keep up with whatever diaper fits your child best or is on sale.

I never heard of this. When my kids were newborn, I tried using other diapers (ie huggies supreme, luvs, target, walmart, and even pampers baby dry), but none of them were as good as the Swaddlers. My older son would break out in horrible diaper rashes if I used anything other than Swaddlers and Huggies leaked something horrible. however, a friend of mine had a girl and she could only use Huggies. My current diapered child has only used Pampers (the swaddlers, sensitive, cruisers line) and never had a problem. I think it's really a matter a preference and what works for your child.

My son never had that problem with Pampers. That said, I used Huggies most of the time b/c they worked better for him. The only time he ever had "burns" was when he had diarrhea where he had clearly eaten something that didn't agree with him.

They absolutely do NOT. some kids have reactions to different diapers but it's not an across the board thing. Neither of my kids could wear Huggies cause they leaked within an hour. My friends kids could only wear Huggies or they would leak. However, neither of my kids can wear the Giant brand diapers cause they got a diaper rash, not a chemical burn of any kind, just their skin doesn't like something in that diaper. Who knows what it was, it happens before they are even wet. It's kind of like peanuts, my kid can eat them fine but his best friend will die if he licks one. No two kids are alike and what works for one won't work for another. But for what it's worth, my hospital gives out Pampers to the new moms to use at the hospital and some to take home. If you still have concerns, contact Pampers directly. They are great and will answer any questions.

I used Pampers exclusively with my two kids and I never had this kind of problem. If Pampers work just fine for your baby, I would keep using them...

I know a lot of people are saying this isn't true but my son was badly burn by pampers. My son was a few months old when this happened. My son is now 8 years old, so I can't recall which type of pampers he was using at the time. It was horrifying at the time because it looked like the skin on his bum had melted off. We took him to the peditrician and she said it was the diapers; she also noted that she had seen this type of thing before with pampers. We threw away all the pampers we had and switched to huggies and then later luvs. I now have another son who just turned two and we have him on both pampers and huggies. He has never had a problem with papers at all. I remember I wrote to pampers at the time and contributed to a few online threads about our experience. I think like some say that all skin types are different and all babies react differently.
