I thought my kids wouldn't take it so well, but they did much better than I gave them credit for. I take them to Mirror Mirror in North Branford to Maria. Nothing fancy just another talented mom cutting my kids hair.
My 2 1/2 year old son really needs a hair cut BUT...I have never taken him to a professional hair place before. My mother-in-law has usually cut his hair in the past but because of her current state of health, I don't want to bug her about cutting it. So an suggestions for child-friendly hair salons in the Cheshire, CT (or surrounding area)? Also how do you suggest about introducing him to the salon for his hair cut? Should I just take him for the appointment and hope that he does not freak out? He is at that stage where it is unpredictable with how he would react to new situations. Many thanks!!
Thank you all for your recommendations. I ended taking him to Snip Its today in Southington and he did great and got a really good hair cut. Thanks again!!

C.,
I have been going to Cutt Loose on Broad Street (rt. 5) in Meriden for many years and have always taken my kids there. They are not only child friendly but do wonderful jobs on our hair and their prices are very reasonable as they base the kids haircuts on age, for example my 12 year old went last week and it only cost me $15 for a wash, cut, and blow dry, I think that is very reasonable. I use Stephanie, but my boys use Melissa. If Steph is not there then I will use either Debbie or Melissa, all 3 do and excellent job, I go to Steph because we have been friends for years and I don't want her to get mad if I use someone else. A lot of times I will call there short notice (as in that day) and Steph is booked solid so I take who ever is free and then when I get there the 3 of them are playfully arguing over who is doing my hair and Steph will end up doing it. LOL It is so funny. No seriously they are fantastic, we wouldn't go anywhere else. Let me know if you need their phone number.
Congrats on your pregnancy.
Hugs,
T.
Try Snip-Its in Southington on Queen Street. The place is set up for kids. Its very inviting. Very playful and colorful. And the stylists are used to working with kids.
We try and go during the week, when its not as busy, so we are in and out.
Good Luck!
Hi
There is a very nice salon located in Shelton called,"Snip -Snaps".
It targets children-they get to sit in seats that resemble planes and cars and also get to watch whichever is there fave cartoon channel-TV's at each hair cutting station! Also has a toy store within the salon and for 1st haircuts, they'll take your child's picture, save a lock(or locks if you want to give some out to relatives) and a certificate!!
I bring my 3 kids there-they 'll give you a punch-out card that you'll need to bring for each haircut and once its full, your child gets a free cut!
They do great work and even cut adult's hair as well.
Here's their web site:

Hi C.,
I recommend KidsCuts in Plainville. I had a great experience there with my son. They have tractor seats for them to get there hair cut and cartoons. They also have kid friendly decor that keeps them entertained. It is pricier than going to a braber shop- $17, but worth it for at least the first time.
