Yes, sorry. Reputable agencies take a percentage of jobs they book for the model. Headshots are not a requirement for them to work with you.

Reputable modeling agencies will NEVER ask you to pay upfront. They pay for your portfolio and everything else, then take commissions from your pay. Please don't send money to anyone. If you want a reputable local agency, try Kim Dawson.

yes. any modeling agency that asks for money up front is not the real deal and is scamming you.

They say that you should NEVER have to pay an agency, if they get you a job, they take a commission of your earnings (or child's in this case).

They might ask you to get photos done (a headshot and full body)... but I can't imagine they would have you pay them (you would go to a photographer of your choice and pay them...

Yes. They are notorious. Please contact the local agencies about modeling in the area, especially Clutts and The Campbell Agency. I've been a film producer in the area for features and short films for the last decade and you never pay for an agency to take the photos. You can get good headshots for a lot cheaper.

Once you get done paying those high prices for onesource, you get to do a lot of nonpaying extra work.

There is a local woman Lar Park Lincoln who has a book out called "Getting Started, Not Scammed" (www.larparklincoln.com). Lovely woman and it's very educational to those who are serious about getting their children involved.

It is not a scam but this is their business model: to have the parents pay dearly for the chance of being discovered. If your child is truly worthy of being a model, they will find you and pay you - not vice-versa.

Do not pay for pictures. Look up The Campbell Agency, Kim Dawson agency and the Klutz agency. They are all the top agents in the DFW. My daughter has been modeling for 4 years and we are with Campbell. The only time you will ever have to pay for pictures is when you are signed with them and they ask if you want to put you them in their headshot book. It's a choice. I recommend you do it then, but not until you are signed with them. To submit your child all they want is a snap shot that you have taken so they can see a close up, a body shot and a personality shot. They don't want pictures that have been touched up.

Yes it is. I suggest contacting K. Dawson agency. They are in Dallas and have a very good reputation. I've delt with them before and they are great. Heres the secret. If and once they sign your child, Make your self available at all times. They can and will call you at the last minute for a job. The kids that tend to be more readily available get more work.

Both of my children modeled when they were under 5, and I never had professional pics done. You go in for the audition, they shoot a pic, and get back to you if they want to use your child.

This is going to become more of a problem in Texas. The state just decided to no longer license talent agencies. The reputable agencies in Texas have gotten together and plan to still operate under the old laws even though they are no longer required to do so.

If you are interested in getting your son into modeling contact either Dawson or Campbell agencies. They are both reputable and work quite a bit with children.

It does sound like a scam. You can pay a photographer for a black and white 8x10 glossy and then get copies for less than that. Shop around. Then, go to a talent agency and sign him up. They'll show his picture, composite and resume (composite is another photo and cost, but the agency will explain everything). I'm glad you thought to ask. I hate the thought that companies like this take advantage of people. GL!

professional pics are necessary after 6 years of age... and the fees for a photographer and comp/head cards are up to the parent.

I sent out for info on this for my son 2 yrs ago. Bottom line, unless you're willing to make your life about going to auditions and shoot calls at the drop of a hat, don't bother.

I would take my own photos if I were you. In Los Angeles my son and I went to a modeling agency since we were told that boys ages 10 and older were needed for models. We paid 700 dollars and never got called for any modeling jobs. I don't know if it was a scam but nowadays you can do wonderful shots with your own digital cameras and blow up photos much cheaper than $500. Just tell them you have your own portfolio and see if they give you actual modeling jobs. My cousins in California have modeling jobs for her 2 preschoolers and they get paying jobs. Good luck and try to check out the companies first.
