I am looking for a inexpensive lawyer to help me out with starting child support. I know that there may not be any out there that wont charge alot but I am really wanting to start up the process. I am not wanting to keep him from seeing her but he does need to help out financially in some way. Any help or guidance out there would be greatly appreciated.
You do not have to have a lawyer for child support. You can contact your county child support enforcement office to start the process. They will also request insurance. They will not do anything with regards to visitation or custody, for that you will have to have a lawyer.
You do not need a lawyer. Call Child services or Child Support Enforcement and they will get you started and get everything taken care of. Good luck. I assume that you weren't married to the father. If not, you have to file a paternity case to get that established and a support order. If you are receiving any type of goverment assistance, contact your local county child support enforcement department, and they might be willing to file
it for free. Otherwise, you can try Legal Aid, but there's a big wait there, if you do qualify.
You need to contact SRS is you live in Kansas. There is a lenexa/olathe office. They will assign you a case worker and enforce it. You shouldn't have to hire a lawyer.
D., I am a former employee of the Jackson County Prosecutor's office. They are who you go to for child support enforcement. Contact them at ###-###-####, ask for the Family Support Division or direct number. The attorneys there handle everything on your behalf. This should not cost you anything except a little time. The attorneys there are very experienced and will attempt to get you everything that is legally due you. They have the power of the law behind them and will enforce it if necessary.
