Not everyone likes coffee. My husband wouldn't know what to do with a Starbucks card. (Other than buy lattes for me!)
Consider an ITunes card -- most people like music or want to download apps to their smartphone.
I am looking to get gift cards as gifts. Does most everyone love Starbucks? It's my favorite place. Or would you rather have one to say a book store or even Amazon?
Thanks !

I don't drink coffee, so a Starbucks card would be wasted on me. I would rather have one for Amazon, Target, Walmart, a local gas station, something I could use it for anything on.
My dad is a teacher and gets lots of Starbucks cards (he constantly drinks coffee, but prefers Folgers over Starbucks), so I like these gift cards--because he regifts them to me!! Last year he had $50 worth so I bought 2 large coffee cups and a couple of drinks! I try to avoid gift cards--unless I really just don't know what to get--and I try to get something that I KNOW they like (not everybody drinks coffee).
Personally, I'd rather have one to Target or Old Navy!
You know the receiver better than we do - but I would love all three of those! I will say, Amazon offers a wider variety of items rather than just coffee. Do a little digging and find out if your receiver has a fancy $250 keurig at home before you buy anything!
No Starbucks for me.....i don't like anything there
I have a few teacher friends that get only Starbucks gift cards. Most of them don't even go there, so they give them away :)
It's hard to say, if you know they love going out for coffee and such, it's a wonderful gift. If you don't know that, maybe stick with amazon.
I love all those too...and Starbuck's has WAY more than coffee, so all you Starbuck's haters out there, use your gift cards for hot chocolates, teas, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches! ;) I would also think about doing something like Target or maybe a fast-casual restaurant like Panera (do you have those there?) or Noodles and Co..
I don't like Starbucks (not a coffee drinker) and even though they make things that don't taste like coffee...I always tell people why would I want to get hooked on an expensive calorie filled drink.....
I would prefer a book store or a general store like Target.
FYI: I would love an Itunes gift card.
Starbucks is great. You can get coffee, a tea or hot chocolate or a pastry. I love getting them :)
Starbucks GC is a great present. Even for the non coffee drinker. They have so much there now - everyone can find something. I think that is what I am doing as well.
I don't drink Starbucks coffee, but I think their gift cards are universally loved. Years ago, my brother gave me a $50 gift card to Starbucks. I only used it when I wanted to buy bottled water or juice at airports after the security screening. That card lasted me several years, but I sure did appreciate it.
My favorite gift cards are from Target.
Get the gift card that has a visa logo on and then it won't matter. I know target has one.
Love them! They'd make me happy, and I get a positive response when I give them. Something there for everyone.
If you do get a starbucks card, you might want to think about making them more than $10..only because $10 doesn't go too far.
Either way I think its a great idea.
Can i have one? lol
Most people I know like starbucks, so it is safe for people you don't know to well. For those you do look at what they really love and make the gifts more personal to them. Are they always reading on a Kindle? than go with Amazon. a nook? barns and noble. Do they always go to the same restaurant? ect... ect....
Some people prefer Dunkin Doughnuts over Starbucks. Why not try gift cards to the local movie theatre, or Target or Walmart or Kmart or even IHop or and American Express gift card which is good practically anywhere.
I love the person who gives my good friend a Panera Gift Card every year. She hates it and I go several times a week!!
I also LOVE Starbucks, and they have way more than just coffee. I think you're safe with it :).
If everyone you're buying for lives in the area, how about a gift card to local coffee shops instead?
Book store - there's a variety, books, music, dvd's, games.
I realize you can get more than a cup of coffee at Starbucks, but who would bother going there if they didn't want coffee. Before I got anyone a gift like that I would make sure they were coffee drinkers.
I love Starbucks but even if I didn't enjoy coffee - they have great snacks and non coffee drinks!!! But a book store would be good, too. I think it depends on who you are buying for...
I haven't been to a Starbucks in YEARS. So I guess it may be a 'treat' if I got a gc from them, as I could order what, one or two coffees with $10 or so?
If it's for $25 or more, I'd like Amazon instead, as with $25, you can get free shipping on most/many items. Amazon has almost anything, from clothing to jewelry to toys to foood to books to movies ......... I did most of my Christmas shopping on Amazon, avoiding lines and stuff. Nice.
For my xmas, my parents give me gift cards from various places they know are my favorite: Sonic (fast food burgers), Amazon, Old Navy, Hobby Lobby (craft store), Fuddruckers (hamburger).
I guess it depends on who you are buying for. Do they have kids? Pick a place with a drive thru! Are the home-bodies? Amazon will mean they don't have to make a special trip to a store. I have received Barnes & Noble gift cards and have been slightly annoyed to spend it b/c there's not one near me, and the nearest one (30 miles away) is in a very busy area with traffic. But I don't want to spend my gc on shipping, so go to the store anyway. But oh geez, i'd have rather had just the $20 cash instead of a gc to B&N. So ..... know the person you're buying for.
I'm not a coffee drinker. O. of my friends gets me a Starbucks card every year. I usually get a nice new travel mug--or two--for my tea!
Starbucks has so much more to offer than just coffee. I received one from my brother last year and loved it. It's nice to grab a little treat for myself once in awhile. What a thoughtful idea!!
Starbucks all the way!! If you come across someone who doesn't like them I know there's a website where you can buy & sell &/or trade gift cards, though for the life of me I can't remember what it's called right now. When I do I'll come back to update.
