Gift Card for Teacher

Last year we gave my children's teachers gift cards to Bed, Bath and Beyond. I thought it was nice b/c they can either buy a necessity or something fun to pamper themselves. What do you all think? I'm wanting something nice for teachers this year, they have been great with my children.
At Christmas we gave bookstore gift cards. Any other suggestions? My husband said Target, but is that tacky?

I don't really want to get a spa or salon card, b/c then they have to spend more of their own money, past $25. to get any sort of service and may not want it, anyway.

I appreciate suggestions!

What can I do next?

This year for teacher appreciation week, we gave my daughter's teacher $20.00 gift card for coffee at Starbucks. I know any amount counts, but I thought $20 could by her a treat everyday for a week.

As a teacher, any gift card is greatly appreciated! But if you want ideas:

Target
Panera
Starbucks
Barnes & Noble
Visa Gift Card
Dunkin Donuts

Really, anything is appreciated! As for the spa idea, $25 gets a girl a pedicure! A gift card to a nail salon would be AWESOME.

The very best thing to give a teacher is a letter of thanks sent to the teacher himself or herself, and a separate letter sent to the principal telling him or her specific details about what you believe made your child's year in that classroom successful. It may take more time than a gift card, but it will have greater value for the teacher.

You are very thoughtful to note that spa certificates often pay for only part of a service!

Bookstore ones are good at any time. How about Amazon.com this time? They can use it on books -- or lots of other items, since Amazon is now much more than an online bookstore.

Also there is the Visa gift card. It's basically like cash and you can use it anywhere that anyone can use a Visa card, so it could be used for spas, restaurants, even the grocery store or anywhere. Good option especially if you don't know a teacher's tastes in detail. We just gave one to our science competition coach.

I've given gift cards to the local movie theater, and those go over well. I think Target is a good idea, too. The biggest hit for me so far has been a cool acrylic cup with a GC to the local convenience store/ gas station. They all loved that!

How about taking a picture of the teacher with your child and then go to Target and have a card made with her name and some nice words in it - plus the Target gift card for anything else she wants...just an idea.

I usually go for the Visa gift card, because they can use that where ever for what ever they want. You could also do a "gas station" gift card, I know those are very appreciated as well. Who wouldn't want a free tank of gas?
Good Luck

I would just go with cash. Nothing wrong with that. I personally think it is an inconvenience to use a $25 gift card...because if cost is over $25 it won't work and then when you spend more than $20 how do you ever get the remaining change off it. Go with Cash!
