Yes, I know it's early. But I'd like to get it done and over with.
I have two boys, ages 8 and 10. Does anyone have any ideas on great Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers? I'm a single mom and in the military, so I have to keep it inexpensive, but am willing to pay a little more for a high quality gift that will stand the test of time.
Thanks, Mommas!
Mom~of~4, I don't think so...but in my experience, those popular gifts are never popular for long. I tend to avoid them. I'm looking for the things that WON'T end up at the bottom of the toy box. ;o)

Our kids bdays are in sept and oct and we told them we were going to give them money and they can pick out what they want. they are 11 and 8 and are very excited to do this. since they have such a long list of bday toys they want, i'm hoping this is going to help them decide on their own what they REALLY want and will appreciate it more. we are doing the same for xmas (not letting them pick) but we are going to ask them what they REALLY want and get them only a couple things this year. years past we have gotten them tons of toys and they just end up not appreciating it. so maybe ask your boys what they really really want and tell them you are on a strict budget and see if instead of getting them many cheaper things, get them the one really big thing they want. good luck.
2 things our daughter loved and her friends loved.. They lasted for over 10 years. I like them because thew were active outside toys..
Maybe see if the grandparents want to send these..
The Twizzler.. It is like a handle bar on a rope. It spins super fast.

For stockings we do candy, underwear, socks, pens, pencils, hot wheels, maybe a fun little toy/game I find. Oh - toothbrushes. Alot of times that stuff comes from the checkout lint at Wal Mart or the Dollar Tree. As far as gifts go, what about a larger joint gift ? Maybe a video game or I Touch ? then a couple of smaller items. I've done clothes, a board game, shoes, books. I try to do shoes and at least 1 clothing item. They are usually needing those about then so it works out well.
Most of our stocking stuffers are things I would buy anyway, but maybe a little bit special..
tooth brush
gum
school supplies (cool pens and erasers)
body wash
cd
socks
I have girls so I'm not sure on the gift part.
Make homemade slime. Put it in little sealed plastic tubs so they can keep it. Make it a lime green or blue and put fake bugs in it if you do it so it's transparent.

First of all...thank you for serving in the military as I sit here safe in my home. I appreciate it every day!
-Hmm, do they have those Razor scooters?
You can find a good deal if you keep an eye on the ads.
-Baseball gloves and mitts? Football?
-Board game they will both enjoy and can even play with you?
-No xBox, I imagine, right?
Stocking stuffers:
-iTunes giftcard if they have iPods
-candy (all time fave)
My sister in law had a great idea that she used for many years when her 3 kids were younger. She would pick a theme and all the gifts were coordinated. For example, one year they got a playstation, they got games from grandparents, controllers from aunts and uncles. Stockings are always toothbrushes, toothpaste, gum....
Has anyone announced the most popular gifts this year?
