Hi K.,
We love Sheperd Of The Sierra(SOS). It is a presbyterian church located at 5400 Barton Road, Loomis 95650. It's very close to Sierra College. My husband is a "former catholic". He was completely against going to church but after the birth of our 1st child he decided he should put aside his beliefs and explore the options again. I grew up a non-practicing Presbyterian and was open to suggestions. So we went to lots of different churches and types of services and when we found Shepherd we knew we had found our church home! One if the things we like most about the church is how welcoming the members are. The church is not so big that we felt like we were just a place holder. There is child care and sunday school. Services are at 10 am on Sunday. The music is a mix of traditional and more contemporary. We Presbyterians like to sing! Our pastor, Dave Ratcliff, gives great sermons that always seem to speak to me and leave me to decide how I feel about that days particular bible lesson. I think the best way to sum it up is end with a glimpse of what we believe. SOS "welcomes you as a child of God regardless of your background, doctrine or theology", "Equips you to live as Christ has called you with joy, enthusiasm and love" and "sends you into the world to share the love, compassion and healing of Christ with a world in need." Whew! Hope that helps and good luck with your spiritual journey.
