Has anyone ever had their child enrolled in those classes that help students with study methods? My son, is having trouble studying now that the homework is much more intense in high shool, and I think he does not have very good study habits. If you have tried one, is there one you would recomend in the Castle Rock area? thanks!

Before paying for outside classes, check with the school counseling office. They usually have resources in place, such as peer tutoring, student study groups and after school help in specific subject areas (run by the teachers in each department.)

Has he been successful in school previously? Does he read for pleasure? Are all subjects equally challenging or does he does better in one subject than the other?

I don't know of any programs but think this is a great idea. Even in college, I see students who do not know how to take notes or study effectively. I think everyone should take a study skills class!

Is it actual studying or organization that is the issue? I thought there was a class for teens through Franklin Covey for organization and planning. Years ago I took the professional version and it helped prioritize tasks and activities. I would bet there is something on-line if not local and I like them.
