Magic erasers work on everything. Trick: once area is clean wash with plain water and wipe dry. That works on the darker colored walls in my house. Try the kitchen one, it might take a long time but should eventually hopefully work.
Sometime during the time that we've owned our "stainless" steel dishwasher, something liquid (food-related) got spilled down the front of it. I never really cared that much, even though I couldn't get it off. I figured I would eventually buy something stronger that would surely take care of it.
Now we're trying to sell our house, and I've bought specialty stainless-steel cleaner and this stain (which runs the length of the dishwasher) will not come off. I have tried special cleaners, different types of scrubbers (including steel wool), and nothing will get this stain off. I know steel rusts because we inherited a very rusty oven that I have not been able to get clean either, but this does not look like rust.
Can anyone help me out? What will get a stain out of stainless steel???

Try Cameo cleaner, sold in stores in aisle where you buy Comet and Ajax. Cameo is excellent for stainless steel cookware.
a little baby oil will work
Spray it with a chlorox based cleaner. Let it sit for about five minutes and spray it again for another five minutes. Take a good scrubbing pad and scrub the dickens out of it... but be careful not to scratch it. Dry it then apply a paste of ajax and water. Rub it on and let it sit for a little bit. Then rinse it off. This is what I do to my stainless steel sink. Only I am able to allow the chlorox to sit overnight and work it's magic. If you can, maybe you can wet a cloth with the cholorx and try to leave it attached to the dishwasher overnight..
I use Barkeeper's Friend on my stainless steel pots and pans. If that doesn't work, you might call the good people at your local appliance store and pick their brains.
Bar Keepers Friend works great on my stainless steel pots and pans!!
This is going to sound weird, but I think there was someone who worked for my dad at one point who used Everclear to get urine/blood/iodine stains off of exam counters. (He owns a vet clinic, hence the odd stains.) Anyway, she used to just get either a rag or a paper towel (don't remember which) and just start rubbing at the stain. It actually worked, too.
Sounds like it is etched in and all the cleaning in the world will not get that off.
