Hey. I just got back from a doctor's appointment and my doctor gave me a prescription for clomid. I had a miscarriage in September and my cycles have been really screwed up since than. Since it is almost 9 months of trying now with my irregular cycles my doc said I could start clomid. Has anyone done this and what was your experience. My doc warned that clomid makes PMS worse and that there is a small chance of twins. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

hi.My daughter after 5 miscarriages was born after clomid. Try it and see. No twins. I know it can make endromediosis worse. Good luck.

Hi M.!
I was given clomid and got pregnant the first go around with my beautiful son (9 years ago!). It can't hurt to give it a try, and, as with any medication, if you start taking it and are having bad side effects - call your doctor immediately.
Good luck!

I tried for a year for my first child and was put on Clomid after that. It worked the first month! However, I had a miscarriage at about 8 weeks. After getting my cycle naturally again about 6 weeks after the miscarriage, my doctor had me do two months of "clomid and condoms"...to bring on the regular cycles and building of the uterus lining, shedding, etc. Then, we were on our own...no clomid or condoms. I got pregnant the second month of trying then and had a beautiful baby girl 40 weeks later. Worked for me...no side effects that I can recall except bloating...it was four years ago.

I have a close friend who also took Clomid for one month and got pregnant immediately...healthy baby girl. She didn't need it when trying for her second child.

It's probably a good sign that you've had successful pregnancy and birth. Have you tried the over the counter ovulation kits (pee on a stick kind) so you know when your best days are? We also used those both times when trying.

Good luck.

Hi M.,
I'm so sorry to hear of your miscarriage. I know how hard it can be, especially when you want so much to be pregnant. I've had three, but the good news is, I went on to have 4 more healthy pregnancies, so don't give up hope. I don't know anything about Clomid, but I would recommend checking into Natural Family Planning, which helps you learn how to identify when you are ovulating, and when you can conceive. This is really helpful when you are having irregular cycles. But the other question is, did your doctor give you any indication why irregular cycles would continue for so long after your miscarriage? My doctor told me to give it two or three normal cycles before trying to conceive, but it seems like 9 months is a long time to wait for regular cycles if you were regular before the miscarriage. Anyway, if you are interested in learning more about Nat. Family Planning, your local Catholic Church could give you some contact info. (you don't have to be Catholic), or check out the website of Pope Paul VI Institute. (They specialize in fertility issues.) Good luck.

I have 2 Clomid babies. My first after 1 yr of trying on my own and very irregular periods I did 6 months of clomid and the last month had a HSG dye test and got pregnant immediately. The second time tried for 6 months on my own, and since we had a history of infertility they gave me the clomid again. I got pregnant the first month that time. I did not have any problem with PMS, I was also taking Provera at the time to bring on my period. I think everyone is different and to me it is worth a try and see. You might not have any side effects and if you get pregnant it will be worth it. I know I feel it was worth it. By the way my last baby was a surprise, no clomid, no trying. All three are beautiful healthy boys now 11, 8, 7. Good luck.
