Cloth Diaper for Bed-wetting 3 Year Old with Rash from Diaper?

My potty trained 3 year old wets the bed. She has been getting a rash on her behind on the sides where the plastic liner lays. It doesn't matter the brand...
I'm wondering if you smart mamas may have a solution. Do you think that a cloth diaper may help? If so, what kind? I've never used them.

Added: The little tiny plastic liner in the diaper is what is rubbing the sides of her hiney and making it dry and red. It'll go away with hydrocortizone cream, but keeps coming b/c of the diaper at night.

What can I do next?

Because she is potty trained during the day, I would probably investigate Antsy Pants first. They get great reviews, come in cool colors. They are cloth but designed to go on like a pull up. You can also adjust the absorbency by using things like large hemp liners along with a microfiber insert. I believe they have a nighttime package that you can buy. Don't be shocked by the price. You will get lots of use out of them and can use them if you have another child or you can sell them once you are done. Just make sure to care for them properly and you will get someof your money back!

You could also look into a pocket diaper that you can adjust the absorbency. What brand will depend on her height/weight. Fuzi Bunz makes a larger diaper as does Thirsties.

Wetting the bed at 3 is perfectly normal. Day and night are two completely different worlds in potty training land. Could take up to age 5 or 6 and that's normal.

It couldn't hurt to try. I use cloth during the day and use a biodegradable insert at night. I use GroVia AI2's (shell with snap-in cloth). They do sell JUST the shell cover. Since you are almost out of diapering, could get a shell or two and use with an insert (they are sticky on the back). I then add a fleece or wool cover over it. If you pm me, I can give you more info. GroVia's and other dipes can be found secondhand at diaperswappers.com or Re-diaper.com. They have trial programs at both jilliansdrawers.com and nikkisdiapers.com as well.

Now that all said, when you said plastic liner I wasn't sure if you meant she is wearing a plastic liner or the bed is covered with one? If it's just the bed, try having her wear a fleece or wool cover. Good luck!

Poise pads. These are how I trained my daughter. I layered her bed with three sets of sheets with double waterproof pads between each fitted sheet. Then I would put a Poise pad liner in her panties. The pad would contain most of her pee and allowed her to have the sensation to wake up. My daughter is 3.5 and has been day and night trained since she was 32 months.

I went to etsy.com to buy some cloth pull-ups. They weren't too expensive, I think $10 per pair. Go take a look - they'll likely be made by the same people who make diaper covers or cloth diapers.

I'd put the diaper on over the panties, that way the liner won't rub on her skin and maybe it won't rash. The panties will get wet which is no big deal, just throw in the laundry, but the positive is that maybe she will wake up when she feels the wetness and start to go to the potty by herself.
