My boy's diaper is so wet every morning, it is soaked through his onsie & pj. He sleeps 11 - 12 hours straight. I am using Pampers Extra Protection (recommend for travel or night time) for 22 - 37 pounds. My son is 13 months old and 23 pounds. He does drink 6 to 8 oz of milk before bed. But even if I change his diaper 30 or 60 minutes after the bottle, it doesn't help. Someone told me there is an insert that I can put inside his diaper, but I have looked and have no idea where to find this. His twin sister does not have this problem, so maybe it is boy specific? Does anyone have a suggestion to keep him drier?
I have a 20 year old daughter who is developmentally disabled (27 mo developmentally) and wears Depends. We use a product from Depends called Boost that is an insert that is flow through so it works with diapers. You can even double them up if you need to. We put two of them on her on weekends when she sleeps in. The only place that I have found them is at Walmart. They are about $5 a package and are with the Depends next to the sanitary pads.

Same thing happened to me when my son was 7 months old. He did this for a few weeks straight. I tried everything: bigger diapers, nighttime diapers, changing him in his sleep right before I put him down for the night. I still give him one last change before he goes to bed and he outgrew this. Now he wakes up with a very full diaper in the morning but it does not leak out or wake him up in the middle of the night. So hopefully this is the case for you too!

We use the Huggies overnight diapers and they have worked the best for us. I don't give my son water after dinner time (he does drink it with dinner), and bedtime he's okay with about 2 oz. of milk. He wakes up with a very full diaper every morning, but rarely leaks.

My son had the same problem when he was younger. He is now 3. I was also giving him a full bottle before bedtime. I started cutting it down little by little to restrict his intake of fluids before bed. It helped quite a bit. The heavy duty diapers didn't work for me. Good luck.

I second the Huggies Overnites suggestion. They were the only diaper that kept my son dry overnight. There were times I was amazed at how much pee one diaper can hold!!

Try Huggies Overnites. Although we always used Pampers Cruisers during the day, the Overnites really helped at night. You can buy the diaper inserts at Babies R Us (and maybe other places too).

The inserts are called "Diaper Doublers" and its been a year or two since I have needed them but we used to find them at Babies R Us. They tend to go quickly so I would always call in advance and make sure they had some in stock. It is a blue package with white polkadots or clouds on it. They ran around $3 for a pack of 30 inserts and we would use one to two inserts. Also, I know Safeway at one point carried a generic version but they were actually more expensive. You may try Toys R Us as well if Babies R Us is out.

We use the Huggies Nighttime diapers. We had the same problem with our son and found this brand to be the most absorbant and effective for keeping our little guy dry.
Also, it might be that despite his weight you might consider moving to the next size up for the diapers. They might seem big but that means they hold more fluid which is the point.
Good luck,
N.

Hi M.,
My son sleeps so hard that he doesn't wake up for anything! He is four and he pees all night long. We used the diaper doublers until they quit making them and now we order Depend Boost pads from Amazon. They cost more but I put a Pampers Underjam and three Boost pads, one lengthwise and the other two folded in half and tucked in front. It s works wonders! We hardly ever wake up wet anymore and the cost is outweighed by not havng to do so much laundry. I am hoping that he will soon outgrow this but my husband's mom told me that my husband was a notorious bedwetter until about age 8!! Good luck in your quest for dry mornings. Order the Boost pads and with your diaper you shouldn't have any troubles. The label says that they can hold as much as 9 ounces each.

We had the same problem with my son and we started putting a small g-diaper insert in his diaper. I actually fold it in half and put it at the top of his diaper and he very rarely wakes up wet anymore. Works great for us!

Yet another vote for Huggies Overnights. Pampers Baby Dry for day, Huggies Overnights for trips and nighttime. I tried Pampers overnights and was very disappointed. My 23 m.o. has a gigantic load of pee in his diaper every morning without fail.

Toys R Us used to carry a 'diaper doubler' that I used for my very wet twins. I haven't found it recently, it really just looks like a long maxi-pad that you add to the diaper. They worked well. Otherwise, you can try a cloth diaper over his regular and see if that helps.
Good luck,
D.

My son is 4 and potty trained but cannot hold it through the night so I have the same problem. First of all, cut out that bottle before bed. I use Safeway's brand of adult Poise pads for incontenence lined inside the diaper. It is like a maxi pad for loss of bladder control in adults. That helps. I also use Sham Wow under the sheets to protect the bed. Good luck!

I want to also recommend Huggies Overnights. We also do Pampers Cruisers during the day; but the Huggies Overnights are the ONLY thing that works for our twins at night. We tried the inserts and they didn't work for us - and they are not sold everywhere. Some Babies R Us had them and some didn't. But the Huggies Overnights are easy to find at BRU, Target and Walmart - thought the best price for them is at BRU.

No matter what the Diapers say I still would change my son in the middle of the night and wipe him very quickly with a wet wipy (but I would wet it with warm water) I did this to prevent diaper rash and of course they can't talk and they don't want an even partially full wet Diaper. It is up to you but I know that boys seem to pee more at night for some reason. Just try to do it very quietly and not disrupt the sleep, maybe a low light and eventually he will get used to it and just go back to sleep. Good luck!

Depends under garments! lol, j/k.
You can ask at the pharmacy if they do have an insert that
absorbs moisture, I'm assuming some elderly may have to use them in their Depends. But it looks like the other Mama's are telling you that Huggies overnights are the cure....
You might try buying some microfiber dish towels and folding one up and adding it to his night time diaper, at least you could wash and reuse that, and they are very absorbant.

Greetings M.,
As the mother of 5 I see your problem. I am assuming that you are already changing his diaper while he sleeps. By the way I congrradulate you onhis sleeping like that none of my 5 even thought about it let alone did it!!
Since it takes about an hour for what you drink to filter through the body and then come out as urine maybe you should try different times of changing him during the night.
It is interesting toknow that his sibling is different so it only shows that each child does things their own way with their body. As for the insert if Babies R Us doesn't have them then go on line and do an internet research. Enjoy the children and keep those memories close to your heart. Nana Glenda

I'm in the same dilemma you are with my 8-mth old - I have him in Pampers Baby Dry for overnights with a wool cover AND a plastic cover over THAT & he still manages to pee out over the top & through his legs - ugh!! Yes, I do still feed him at night, so I know that's part of the problem, but his that way 5 hrs after I put him down.
I noticed someone mentioned using microfiber cloths as a doubler - I did cloth diapers with my first son & used MF cloths. If you choose to go that route, be sure to wrap the MF cloth in fleece or cotton. You don't want to put MF directly next to the baby's skin. It can be very irritating. Just buy some cheap fleece seconds or something at a fabric store, cut them up & lay the fleece over the MF or wrap it around it all. I might try that myself - and if that doesn't work then I'm definitely trying the Huggies Overnights! Good luck!

I use cloth diapers but for a while I couldn't find a nighttime diaper that worked for her.
While we were searching for a cloth solution I used Huggies overnights a size up. Never a leak!
I'm not sure about disposable inserts but there are a lot of cloth inserts. If you're interested in that let me know, I'll give you some recommendations.

He does not need milk prior to bed... bottles need to be gone, using only cups, and I don't think you will have this problem. he should only have about 16 oz of milk and milk products each day. other wise he can become anemic...

We just dealt with this problem recently. My son is 20 pounds and doesn't do well with nighttime diaper changes. He sleeps 11-12 hours and was waking up wet. He wears Size 3 Pampers during the day. We couldn't find doublers so we tried Huggies Overnight, Size 3 and Pampers Overnight Size 4 without success. We finally found that Pampers Overnight (extra absorbency for travel and night) in size 5 is absorbent enough for him to wake up dry after full night's sleep. So, I would suggest going up a size (or even two like we did) in the overnight diapers just for nighttime.
