Clothing for a Tall Teenage Girl

I need help - First, I'm mad at myself for waiting till (almost) the last minute but then I didn't think it was going to be so difficult...the problem - my daughter is a beautiful 15 year old that happens to be TALL and I can't find any pajama/lounge pants to actually go all the way to the floor - would also love to have the owl print but I'm guessing I won't find any. She's been very sweet about it in the past wearing pj's that look more like capri pants because of her height, but darn it, there have got to be pajamas out there for a tall girl! The only ones I've been able to find that have the right length of in-seam are way too big. I guess companies just assume if you're tall, you're also overweight. Well, she's a toothpick!!! Anyone know of any companies? I've done the internet search thing but can't find anything! Thanks for any help!!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for the great ideas - love the Long Tall Sally website, never heard of them before but I love what they've got. Also, Victoria's Secret has great options - agreed they're not all super sexy, it's just mostly in their presentation. Etsy is also a great option - didn't even know what that was!

As for making them, yes, I thot of it and would love to but my sewing machine is broken and I really can't afford to get it fixed or buy a new one right now.

Thanks again and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

I'm 6' tall, so I feel her pain. ;)

Try this: http://us.longtallsally.com/tall/sleepwear

They have sizes all the way down to extra small, but everything is geared for very tall women. I hope that helps! :)

Victoria's Secret has super cute pj's. No....they aren't all super sexy.
They come in small but long sizes.
I'm thin and tall too.

I don't know about owls....but you can check out their site online.
They really do have cute things.

Best wishes.

Another one for you - Alloy. I'm 5' 10", wear a size 2 - 4, so I'm very familiar with the frustration!! Alloy has inseams that go up to 37"! And it's geared towards teens. I also get a lot of my stuff from Old Navy and Gap - online they have tall sizes.

Do you know anyone who can make them? If you look on Etsy you may be able to find someone to make some to fit your needs.

Or, if you are feeling crafty, maybe you can make them :) I don't think they would be too hard...

I'm 5'8" so not particularly tall but I have long legs and I hate that all PJ pants are too short. I love summer cuz I can buy capris. I have not tried the VS ones so maybe they will work. Sorry I am no help.

Pajama bottoms are basically 2 pieces of fabric sewn together. They are the most super easy thing to sew. I suggest you get some cheap fabric and learn to sew them. PJ bottoms that fit can be made into shorts, elastic waist pants, and capri's.

It is a skill that is very easy to learn. We had a basic sewing class at church and the first thing they made was PJ bottoms. There is the crotch seam, the one that goes front to back and under the "girly" area...then the inseam. That's it. Hemming them is easy because you iron the bottom of the fabric up an inch and sew it. The same with the waist. Turn it down an inch or inch and a half then sew it and put either a drawstring or some elastic through the casing you just made.

It is super easy. If you do decide to try to learn how to do basic sewing I suggest you stop by a local crafting store like Hobby Lobby or a quilting store and ask them if they do any basic sewing classes. A simple straight stitch machine is all that is needed and sometimes they have ones that you can use until you decide if you want to follow up with more lessons.

I understand your pain!

I would say the best option is to have them made, or make them yourself. It's super easy to make and they have cute flannel with owls on them--I just saw it at the fabric store.

I'm sure someone on etsy could make them as well--check it out!

I have two daughters that are super tall and skinny as well. One is 20 (she is 6') and the other is 11 (5' and weighs 85) so I've been through it. I have always had luck at Justice for Girls www.shopjustice.com. Not sure if there are any in Ohio but I know you can order on the web. What I liked about the PJ's is that I could get a little larger size, but they always have the draw string so my girls could wear them, they just tighten the waste. PJ bottoms can be sort of baggy as long as they stay up - and Justice has darling stuff (they also carry "slims" in their jeans and pants). VS is a good idea, too.

I'm 6'1 with a 37" inseam.

I can't buy clothing in the US, almost at all (a few tank tops, a few mens dept. items -tommy used to make 28-36 pants i loved- but everything else is too short.) Dresses are the worst. Bust over my collarbone, ribcage narrowing over my bust, hips over my stomach, narrowing legs over my hips... Ugh. I look like a lasagna noodle!!!

So I do most of my shopping in the UK & Italy.
Intenet shopping is AWESOME!!! since I no longer have to schlep to the EU to buy clothes.

Long Tall Sally is lovely. Here's the PJ area
