P.M.
May be colostrum still in your milk... and blood in the milk is still ok to allow baby to drink.
ok very weird situation! i had a baby girl last week :) I have been pumping for a few days because she was having trouble latching (destroyed my nipples) and also my milk hasn't fully come in (she is a hungry 9 lber and wants more than I can currently supply lol) tonight while pumping I saw a clump in my milk when i was pouring it into a storage bottle. (i strained it out, looks stringy or mucus like?) The milk was also pink which I assume is blood? At the next feeding, this happened at the other breast. I am kinda freaked out- i nursed my first son for 11 months and if I pumped, i never saw this! I am calling my lactation person first thing this morning but wanted to ask for trusted advice from the mamapedias also. thanks

You poor thing! I had horrible cracking & bleeding with my oldest, the pink might be a tiny little bit of blood. It never seemed to bother my son when he would nurse (although it did bother me!) so you shouldn't have anything to worry about. You should see if your lactation consultant can get you some nipple shields, that will spare you the trouble of pumping, and give your nipples some time to heal. Good luck!
Hi J.
Sorry to hear that you are going through such stress with feeding.
To be honest, I never had this happen to me while feeding.
My advise would be to call your local breatfeeding support group ASAP.
The group here is "la leche league".
Best of luck

I don't know about the pink/blood, but the clumps are normal. Your milk has just the right amount of fat for your baby--you will especially notice the clumps in your stored milk--the milk separates, and the "cream" rises to the top.
It my have been the beginnings of a clogged duct that you got out before you started to really feel it.
Also, if you have been eating more fatty foods, there can be clumps in the milk.
