My 22 month old recently climbed out of her crib! She never even tried before! Anyways, her crib is a convertible one and we are thinking about converting it now to the day bed (where the front rail comes off). She still moves around when she sleeps, so I am looking for a bed rail to use on a convertible bed. I know One Step Ahead has one that is specifically for convertible cribs, but its kind of pricey....you could almost just get a new toddler bed for that amount! I also have heard that those mesh ones are dangerous to use on the convertible beds because they're made for twin to queen. I've heard some people have used those, but kind of had to make it work somehow for their convertible.
Has anyone found a bedrail besides the One Step Ahead one that works on convertible beds, without having to "rig" it?
Our kids have a convertible crib and our son's is converted to the toddler bed with the front rail off. I thought about getting a rail so he wouldn't fall out but never did. He did fall out of bed once or twice and got right up and climbed back in. He was fine.
Wow, I posted almost the exact same question on Feb 24th if you want to go back and look at the answers I received. What I ended up doing was purchasing a mesh bed rail from WalMart for like $20. It's a shorter rail, so she still has room to get in and out of her bed. She's a big roller and it has worked perfectly. We haven't had any problems even when she leans on it. Below is the link. i used to put two huge lounge pillows on the floor of my daughters toddler bed (days before the rails) and she fell out for a week (nvr waking up mind u)lol; it seemed her body found a nice balance and she quit falling out of bed after a week.
My daughter didn't do the convertible bed from crib she had she got a toddler bed and bought a bed rail at sears and it works great for her little girl, now she is 3 and they just got bunk beds so the 6 yr old sleeps on top and the 3 yr, old monkey on the bottom but still has her bed railing and it works for her.. price on that in Canada Sears is $50.00 so probably alot cheaper in the States.. hope you find what you are ooking for and it works for you:)
I just put the box springs and mattress on the floor so if my child falls out of bed, its very close to the ground. He likes it alot because it takes little effort for him to climb in and out of bed and I don't worry about boo-boos.
He is now 4, I will probably add rails this summer.
P.s. My son sleeps all over the bed and he only fell out once, that was enough for him to learn not to do it again.
I had a convertible crib, but opted for a toddler bed off of craigslist for $25 instead. It's way cuter for her room, and she was 22 months old at the time too. :)
