Elevating a Bassinet

Hi Moms, My 5 week old son has acid reflux and the doctor recommended that we elevate the mattress in his crib however he sleeps in a bassinet in our bedroom. Any suggestions on how to elevate the mattress in the bassinet? It's very flimsy and putting anything under it makes it bumpy and very soft. Thanks!

Bed Rails for Captains Bed

I am going to be purchasing a captains bed that has slats and no box spring for my daughter. I am looking for a bed rail that will be compatable with this kind of bed. Do you have experiences with bed rails (good and bad) that you can share with me? I would like to get it right the first time! Thank you!

Bunk Beds Again

After much thought, I've narrowed my selection of bunk beds down to two. The one system is great because it is a low loft bunk, so its height is only 45". Since I am 6 months pregnant, and the kids are on the young side, this sounds great to me. It's big drawback is that it is a loft, so the lower bunk isn't under the top bunk, rather, it would stick out into the center of the room. The other system is a traditional system bunk that can be separated into individual beds later. It's much higher, though, at 72". I can buy an under bed storage...

Ikea Cribs and Mini Cribs

Hi folks- Has anyone used any of the Ikea cribs or the Mini Crib by DaVinci (or Million Dollar Baby)? We're looking for a small crib that is inexpensive, but I am concerned about quality. What I really want is the Stokke Sleepi but it's way out of my price range. Any thoughts?

Crib Bumpers or No Crib Bumpers???

Simply put, I am curious what you all think of the new reports advising us to not put crib bumpers in our baby's cribs?? My nanny said she saw on the Todays Show or something that they are saying to not use these anymore. Should I remove them from my 15 month old's crib?? Thanks!!

Hi wise mommas, I wanted to know when it would be safe to put a pillow and a blanket in my 11 month olds crib. She sleeps fine but I thought it would be nice to give her something to snuggle with. Thanks for any thoughts!

Is a Wedge Necessary for Newborn?

Hi- my sister-in-law is expecting her first baby in August, and she asked me if she should get one of those sleeping wedges for her baby- that thing that's supposed to prevent the baby from rolling over onto his stomach. I have two little boys, aged 22 months and 3 months, and I didn't use the wedge for either of them. I was just wondering if this wedge is a good idea? I'm not sure if it's something I should have used or if it isn't necessary.

Swaddling Vs. Sleep Sack

Here's my dilemma, my 8 week old does very well with swaddling, in fact, it was a god send for us. Our problem now is that she grunts and struggles (while sleeping) to get her arms free and ultimately wakes herself up. So, you would think that it is time to stop the swaddling and just go with the sleep sack - we have tried that and what is happening is that she is doing the jerky movement thing with her arms (in her sleep) and conking herself in the head - and waking herself up. needless to say - we are in a sleepless household right now....

Toddler Big Girl Bed

My daughter just turned 3 and I am expecting a second baby in December. So naturally we are starting to prepare for the new arrival as well as get our older one ready for various transitions. One of those being moving out of her crib into a big girl bed. I wanted to know if its worth getting a toddler bed or just moving straight to a regular twin bed that she use for a very long time with the sidebar things to keep her from falling? My initial thought was to skip the toddler bed but the only thing holding me back is that we are looking...
