H.G.
I "like" Paula deens facebook page and I saw a pic on there this morning and the family was dressed up as "the Addams family"! It was so neat! Or the Munsters? I love halloween and I think lots of make-up should be mandatory! ! Let us know :)
For Halloween my 4 year-old is going as a ghostbuster, and my 1 year-old is gong as the Stay Puft Marshmellow Man. Cute right? Here is the problem, we are going to party were the WHOLE family is supposed to dress up. My husband and I orginally had the idea that we would get some white sheets and dress up as ghosts. However, the more I thought about it, it would be hard to socialize/parent with a sheet over your head the entire night. Any other simple ideas come to mind????
Thanks moms! You guys are the best....so many great suggestions. I think we are going to go with the idea of cutting a hole in the sheet and then painting our faces white with some black eye make-up! Wow, how simple!

We did Ghostbusters last year. Fun theme. I made Ghostbuster costumes for us all. That may be a bit more work than you intended. Martha Stewart has a ghost costume on her site where your face is not covered if you still want to go that route.http://www.marthastewart.com/275248/homemade-halloween-co...
Can you go as Janine? The red head that answers the phone. She has the red glasses. Or you could be Dana (Sigorney Weaver) in the red dress when she is possessed Your hubby could be Louis Tully (Rick Moranis). My son is a bit obsessed...can you tell I have seen that movie a few times?
Do you need to keep with the Ghostbuster's theme? If not, I have the simplest (yet cheesy) costume idea ever. You've probably already heard of or seen it.
two white t-shirts with large black "P's" painted on them
black make-up under or around your eyes
BLACK-EYED PEAS!!
So easy!!! My husband and I dressed this way for a party one year, and while we didn't win any contests, we got plenty of "Ha, ha, ha's!!"
Have fun!!!
You could keep to the ghost plan, just don't have the sheet over your faces, get some white make-up/face paint and paint your faces white. :)
Happy Halloween!
you could go as the librarian ghost and hubby could go as slimer or one of the other ghostbusters.
You two can be ghosts!
Two years ago my son was a ghost--hole in sheet for a neckhole, paint your faces white with black circled-eyes then spike your hair and use the white hair paint. It was O. of my favorite costumes...it was SO stinkin' cute!
Make a hole in the sheet and wear it from the shoulders down. Get some white face makeup for your face, maybe with some dark makeup under your eyes to enhance the effect, and white spray color for your hair. We do this if the kids want to be ghosts, it eliminates them not being able to see everything.
Last year my husband wore black pants and a black turtle neck. I bought him a kings robe at the costume store and a crown. I had a black gown I wore to a wedding a couple years ago. I bought the queens robe and a crown too. My husband and I had so much fun being the king and queen for the night.
This year I am wearing the same gown and bought a witches hat. I also bought cool eye makeup and rhine stones. Checkout witches makeup on youtube. My husband is going to be something that goes with a witch.
Cut a head hole in the sheet and use a white belt. Then rat up your hair and put powder in it to make it white. Then put white makeup - or green eyeshadow on your face. Draw in some warts, wrinkles, etc. with some eye pencil and use black lipstick.
I did this once when I didn't have a costume and my own son didn't recognize me.
You can have all the fun of being a ghost and all the mobility of not being one.
Oh My Stars!!!!! I want you to go to Hobby Lobby or some other fabric store and look at pattern books. I found the most amazing ghost costume patten!!!
Our little guy wanted to be a ghostie for months but I thought the same thing as you, plus poor vision, I'd have to lose a white sheet, etc...I was looking for a vest pattern (He is going as Gnomeo) and this ghost pattern jumped out at me! It would be terribly easy to imitate.
You could use tulle, net, chiffon, any light weight/floaty fabric. I wish the picture would come up with the link. It is totally awesome! Take long thin rectangles and just cut some slits in them for the head to go through. Then fray the edges to make them look ragged. I think it is an idea that could turn out really easy and inexpensive. Try it! I would love to see pictures!

You could always dress up 50's style. You and your husband could roll up a pair of jeans with white socks and loafers. White button down top and scarf around your neck or in hair for you and a white t-shirt, black jacket or sweater vest for him. He can slick his hair back and put a comb in his back pocket.
Good luck! Sounds like a fun time!!

CUTE!!
Cowgirl and cowboy would be super easy, that is if you have a cowboy hat and boots or maybe know someone that would let you borrow them for the night.
