1. We are 100% weaned as of Aug 24th, but I am still leaking. No pain anymore or anything like that, just want to know how long the leaking will last! ha
2. Daughter has started waking up at 5 in the am! She sleeps through the night, so I know I am blessed, but this has just started. She normally sleeps at least until 6. Her old schedule is as follows:
Up at 6 Nap at 9 Nap at 1 and bed at 6 (We took away 3rd nap at 3 3 weeks ago)
New Schedule:
Up at 5 Nap at 8:00-8:30 Nap at 1 (same) and bed at 6.

What do you see that we should change, or do you think this will be our new schedule?
Not really a big issue, just wondering.

So What Happened?

We have moved her bedtime to 6:30 maybe hoping she will sleep at least until 6, but no luck! ha She still wakes up the same time every morning. She had done that in the past too, that's why I never changed it to a later time, because with her it just didn't matter. Oh well, we'll keep it at 6:30 so we aren't changing it yet again! Bought cabbage and it seems to have done the trick! Thanks wonderwomen! ;)

I agree with the others, her bedtime is too early. At that age my girls went to bed about 7 and by age 2 8 PM with only one nap. I'd put them to bed earlier then 8 but my olders don't sleep much and keep everyone up anyway so 8 works for us. Definitely try moving her bedtime to 7 and see if that helps.

As for leaking, I never breastfed my son because he was stillborn but that was 6 months ago and I still have milk. It's not leaking, though. Just give it a little time. Every body is different.

I know it sounds crazy but it works. Put a cabbage leaf in your bra. The enzymes from the leaf soak in the skin and dries the milk. That's what I had to use.

six bed time seems pretty early. can you gradually push it back. say ten-15 mins a night till its closer to 7. also our so didnt start sleeping through till he was 1 yr. because thats when the pedi said to make him. it took three nights. at one year he was also down to one nap per day. i cant remember when that happened but thats all he needed by then. congrats on your happy family :) * i want able to breast feed so no advice there.

I leaked for about 2 weeks give or take. Everyone is different so don't put to much into this.

LOL - When my son learns something new, new food is added to his diet, change in something at home his schedule changes. Your schedule is fine. You are much better at it than I was.

If the schedule works for your family then why change it? Babies who are good sleepers are priceless! Just appreciate every stage; they grow up so quickly...

If you're ok with the schedule as it is then stick with it. No need to mess with something that is working for you, but if you would prefer her sleeping later I would try moving her bedtime back a little bit. Right now she is sleeping for 11 hours straight which is great, but I don't think you can ask her to go longer. The only thing you could do is slowly move her bedtime back to 7:00 and then see if everything else adjusts too.

Good luck,
K.

I think my breasts leaked for a good 2 wks before completely drying up after weaning. So it may take a little while longer for you.
Your daughter's schedule sounds a lot like both my daughters were on for awhile! They both went through a phase where they were in bed for the night at 6pm and up by 5:30am. I just went with it and eventually they started staying up a little later each night and waking up later. My younger one is 3 now and she still wakes up at 6-6:30am most days. She's just an early riser! But the way I see it, that will make things easier when she starts pre-k next year!

I've heard of people leaking for months and even years after nursing. It'll stop eventually. You're normal!

As for the waking up....bed time at 6PM seems awfully early to me. Perhaps if you could extend that some, getting her to bed more like 7 or 8 (completely reasonable bed times for a baby, IMO) then she'd sleep a little later. Clearly she is getting enough sleep, but perhaps if you want her to sleep later then some later time adjustments could happen across the board!

You have been given good advice on the schedule. Just gradually move it back so she will sleep later in the morning.

The leaking is normal. You could also use cabbage leaves in your bra.. I know it sounds crazy, but it works, For some reason the cabbage makes the breast dry up...

I remember my OB gave me some pills to help dry my milk up. You could check into that as well. As for question 2, maybe try putting her to bed a little later (around 7?) then she may sleep an hour longer in the AM.

Good luck!
