Crazy Question from My 4 Year Old Jff

CJ asked me last night, "When is it my turn to wash the dishes?"...On the fly I told him when he is tall enough to reach the bottom of the sink without stretching. He accepted that answer, but it got me wondering, does anyone else have fun stories where thier kids wanted to so something the older kids hate to do?

What can I do next?

Yup, my son just cant' WAIT to sit and toil over the school work and piano practice he sees his sister doing, he's SOOOO sad to be threeeeeeee. We'll see how much he loves it when it's his turn :) Chores? He's not really interested...but maybe that's because he already has to do a fair share of cleaning for his size. But he does always want to crack the eggs (and I let him even though he ALWAYS cracks the end instead of the side) and cook over the hot stove.....(not quite yet..)

When I was younger (Probably 3 or 4) one of our dogs died. We had a small little funeral and buried him in the back yard. When we were walking back into the house I asked "When can we bury George?" (Our other dog)! Lol.

Mine is too young still for this question, but I remember when I would babysit my younger cousin she would always want me to give her homework (Cause she saw me doing mine).

When they ask questions like his, accommodate them! Get him a stool or push a chair to the sink that he can kneel on and show him how to wash and rinse a few dishes, don't miss your window of opportunity ; )

My guy is 2.5 and loves to do "homework" when he sees his 10 year old cousin doing his. I give him some paper and a pencil and he goes to town...as his cousin is upset he has to do his!

Yeah, my daughter will be six in Dec. My son just turned 4 less than 2 weeks ago. He loves to help me clean, cook, decorate cakes etc. My daughter, just about have to threaten bodily harm to get her to clean anything! She also doesn't enjoy cooking or baking with me nearly as much as my son. I have to pull the old "Tom Sawyer" on my daughter to get her to clean or help me most times.

He also wants to do everything she does so he wants "homework" like she has. She's not as interested in doing hers as he is in his.

Guess there's something to "having" to do it and just wanting to do it for fun, cuz she used to love to do "homework".

My kids fight over who can vacuum and dust . I think the more you don't let them do something , the more they want to do it :)

Reading the answers reminded me of the first time I used plasticware I had bought for my Girl Scout troop to use at snack time. (I was trying to teach them to be 'green' and re-use). When I got home, my then 3yo son INSISTED on washing the flatware, plates and cups. He spent the better part of an hour and used tons of dish soap but man! they've never been that clean since! As for the excess water and soap? I guess the lesson was lost on my little guy!

My littles love to take a bath. It's a total fun time treat.
My teenage brothers have to forced to shower.

My littles love to do homework. They get a real charge out of reading thier books to me and writing thier practice words.

My daughter, 5 years old, will pick up anything rag-ish and begin cleaning random things, trying to wipe them down. However, if I ask her to actually do it, like wipe down the dinner table for me, she pitch a fit. She helps me in the kitchen with plastic containers, she drys and put them away for me.

My son (5-1/2) LOVES to scrub the kitchen floor. He will get a sponge or paper towel and just get to work on it, one stone at a time.
