We just found out that we are expecting baby number 2 due April 11th. I have been trying to come up with creative ways to tell our family and friends about it but I am kind of drawing a blank. Does anyone out there have any ideas?

Well this is what my husband and I did. We got a shirt that said " Worlds greatest big sister". And let her wear it when we went to everyone's house and didn't say anything.

For our first child we bought fortune cookies from the store. You can microwave the cookies for about 10 seconds in the microwave and it will open enough for you to put in your own fortunes. We put things like "Due January 13th" "Congrats Grandma and Grandpa" or "IS it a boy or a girl?" We showed up at my in-laws with chinese take-out for everyone and it is always tradition for everyone to read their fortunes. It took a couple of people opening their fortune up to realize what was happening. It was so fun.

Here are a couple ideas, but your family needs to be close to you.

1. Have them come over for dinner and have everything that starts with "baby" such as baby back ribs, baby carrots, etc.

2. Show them the movie 9 months.

Congratulations and have fun!

invite everyone over to dinner and have your daughter wear a I am a big sister t-shirt.... see who notices first! Can't talk about any other topic after someone realizes!

One of my friends had a t-shirt made for the big brother/sister that said, "I'm gonna be a big brother!" She posted on her blog and sent e-mail of the picture. Kind of fun because not everyone got it right away, but eventually everyone got it!

Congrats! I still remember finding out that we were having number two on the way....that was four years ago. We went to a t-shirt shop and had a t-shirt made. It read I'm the BIG Brother. I still remember it was hard to grasp my oldest was going to be "BIG" brother to someone because he was my little guy.

We broke the news to the family with my oldest wearing his new shirt to Grandma and Grandpa's house for lunch one day. It was funny because it took a little while before they "got" it. My mom read his shirt several times before she looked up at me and said "Are you having another baby?"

Have fun sharing the news!

I actually came up with creative ways to announce my pregnancy to everyone. Here is what I did and maybe you can change some of these ideas up to better suit you.

I told my husband by getting a small paint brush a small block of sandpaper and blue painters tape. I wrapped all of those up with a sheet of paper saying, "There's prepping, sanding and painting to do will it be pink or will it be blue" and I wrote we will find out March 29th.

We made the announcement to our parents with our first child by decorating a sheet of paper with baby stickers (scrapbooking decor) and writing on it picture coming on March 29, 2009 (our due date). We put the decorated paper in a frame and mailed it to our moms and then waited for the phone call. They thought it was super cute and were anxious to get a picture they could put in their frame!

We told our siblings by writing the following poem and decorating the outside of the paper we wrote it on with baby stickers.

Roses are red
Violets are blue
I need an aunt
In 9 months its you

Hope this gives you some additional ideas!

Congratulations! I totally understand the anxiety of thinking of two. It's more work, but equally amazing to watch how different and similar they are and a gift to give your daughter a sibling! Enjoy the pregnancy.

Regarding ideas... Not sure when you are planning on announcing the baby. One idea that was fun was to send a card for a birthday or other occasion (i.e. upcoming grandparent's day) to the person from the new baby. It catches them off guard and is a fun way to share the exciting news.

My friend took a family picture with her husband and 2 kids on their laps, then put something like
film for camera - $3.55
money for prints - $25.68
knowing there are six of us in the picture - priceless

I've got two ideas: get a tshirt for Savannah that says "Big Sister" or "I'm the big sister" I think we had both and just put it on her when a bunch of family is around and let the,m just figure it out one day-fun! We also sent flowers to the grandparents with the announcement. We sent pink roses to both sets when we found out we were expecting another girl (20 wk ultrasound).

Don't be nervous-just enjoy your pregnancy. I've found so far with a 3 yr old and 3 month old that we're more confident as parents-you know better what to expect. And watching our big sis with her lil' sis is the best!

congratulations!

It would be fun to put Savanna in a big sister t-shirt the next time you go to your parents' house or anywhere you'll be with people you want to tell. We had a t-shirt made for our 4 year old (we know someone who machine embroiders) that said, "I'm going to be a big sister!" and it was funny to see our family's puzzled faces as they put 2 and 2 together then asked us, "Are you pregnant?!!" Then the screams began. Sometimes we had to coach her to say, "Look at my new shirt." It was so fun. And a sibling is the best thing you could ever give Savanna. I have 2 kids and I'm grateful every day that I had a second. They love each other so much.
