Hi again everyone,
My daughter, Lily, is 13 months old now (wow, how time flys!) I have a question about her teeth. She first got her two bottom teeth, then her two top middle teeth. After that, she got both two top side teeth (so basically, she has 4 teeth up top and 2 on the bottom.) ANYHOW....she's now getting her BOTTOM left tooth coming in...and its COMPLETELY crooked! It's turned vertically like 180 degree angle! I'm so nervous about it! I've notcied shes been having a hard time and waking up at night because it's hurting her (Like with any other tooth) But, is this what its going to be like when she gets her "adult" teeth? Help!?!!!?!!!

I wouldn't worry about it too much right now - her mouth is still growing, so it may just have to catch up with her teeth...and sometimes other teeth growing in around it will shift the ones in there already....there's really nothing you can do about it, so don't worry! Once she grows and gets more teeth, then braces may have to come into play later on, but kids are always cute with their original baby teeth - plus she will be losing those any way and getting her adult teeth, so they may come in better...if not, no big deal - orthodontists can work miracles!! I had braces when I was in 8th-10th grades and my teeth look great now. Also - when my mom got her adult teeth in, she only had mild crookedness and she just pushed on her teeth with mild pressure and they went into place and are perfectly straight. I'm sure your little one will be fine! :)
If you are really concernd about her teeth take her to cool smiles. I belive they take 12 months and . My daughter was 12 months when I took her in. Get checked out. Hope she does better. Take care.
Take her to a pediatric dentist. Children should start early (don't wait until they are 3 or 4 and terrified. My boys started going when they were around 18mos. I will probably straighten out some on its own, bur if you are concerned a dentist can check it out and make sure it is not something that will permanently damage her smile. They start preventative measure earlier now to try avoid braces and such. Good luck.
Your childs adult teeth don't might not come in crooked. My sons front baby teeth had a huge space in between them, but his adult teeth came in fine. You should consult with a dentist in case the tooth needs to be pulled since it's causing pain.
Lily's tooth may turn as it comes in to the correct position. If the baby tooth is crooked it doesn't mean that the adult tooth will definitely be crooked too. But if I were you I would start saving for orthadonture now. It can be expensive and if she is showing signs of having crooked teeth your dentist or doctor will eventually reccommend having an orthodontist fix her teeth. Complete start to finish treatment usually costs ~ 5000 today. So start saving now so that its not a surprise later!
I'm a dentist and a mommy of an 17 month old - please don't be worried about the orientation of her tooth, I promise she's ok. At this age we are more concerned about any discolorations or baby bottle tooth decay. Make sure you brush her teeth, cut down juices, sugars, give water with flouride, and no milk in bottle/sippy cup at bedtime. Let's revisit tooth orientation/spacial issues when she's 7 or 8! Hope this helps. Take her to a dentist soon
my 4 year olds teeth came in like that... but corrected themselves as more teeth came in... i'm talking her first 4 teeth (2 top, 2 bottom) came in like that!! it looked soooo weird for a while! her dentist said that baby teeth are NO indication of how adult teeth will come in (since her mouth will be so much bigger by then)... i would honestly wait and see what happens... thats what i did, and i had been worrying over absolutely nothing! best wishes!!
Well, I can't imagine what they would do about it, you should take her to a pediatric dentist to check it out. Usually, dental visits start at 18 months - 2 years, but they are capable of looking at a problem and letting you know if it is a serious problem.
Tylenol is great fro teething pain. Orajel and like products never worked for us, but Tylenol is great. And frozen washcloths and teething rings are useful too.
PS - My friend told me there was a Infant Tylenol recall this week, check their website.

I think P G said it best. Don't worry about it. Our ped dentist recommended visits at a year old or when they first get their teeth. You may want to take her just to ease your mind.
I know this may sound silly, but take her to a pediatric dentist. Around 1 or when they start getting teeth is a great time. It gets them used to seeing a dentist and the dentist can keep track of her teeth. Right now her palate is maliable, so if they need to (when she is old enough) they can send her to an orthodontist and correct any issues. My daughters mouth was way too small for her teeth. One even started growing in the middle of the roof of her mouth. But with her wonderful dentist and orthodontist we are working to correct her mouth and bite.
