Cyclical Vomiting?

My son who is almost 3 began vomiting a week ago Monday. He vomits about 2-3x per day. He was seeming fine but now he is beginning to act more lethargic. His appetite is surpressed but he is drinking well. I took him to the doctor and they x-rayed him and ran several blood tests but it all came back normal. They termed it cyclical vomiting. Has anyone experienced this? Do these symptoms sound like something else? I am not very confident in the diagnosis. It seems really strange. We have eliminated milk (day 2). He does not drink much fruit juice mostly all water. Nothing has changed.

What can I do next?

My son got sick with a vomiting illness last Wednesday night. For the first day, he threw up 5-7 times, and after that, he only threw up once or twice a day or night for about a week. It was only a virus. He was drinking and playful, but his appetite was not very good. I called the doctor twice, but never brought him in. I hope this is the case with your child too! He is back to normal, and feeling fine now.

Do migraines run on either side of your family? If so, it could be cyclical vomiting. I would start keeping a journal of al his activities (eating, sleeping, excercise, etc). Sometimes you can find the "triggers" and avoid them. Also, if he is still lethargic I would take him the the MD. Even though he is drinking fluids, he still could be dehydrated. If it continues for another week, I would talk to your doctor about sending him to a specialist (Gastroenterologist or kidney specialist)

After vomiting give him room temp. little sips of water every 15min. or so. DONOT let her just take a huge gulp of water, not icy cold water etc. You have to ease the stomach back to tolerating food/liquid. You could possibly try letting him squish water in his mouth and spitting it back out not to swallow any and push off taking liquids for a few hours to get that stomach to heal.

If you are already doing this I'd take him back to the doctor or for another opinion.

I know my daughter has diarreha or vomitting days on end before where I thought is this ever going to stop. I started giving her plastic bags like you get at Cub or Target and she pukes in those and then we just toss the entire bag out no mess to clean up. I would also make her a island in the living room with towels and blankets she could play or lay on. I had her hair tied up and ready to go. I know though I almost had to starve my daughter to get it to quit it was like her stomach just couldn't handle a sip of anything she'd be puking again in a few hours. We ended up in the ER needing a IV so you have to becareful it's really frustrating.

Symptoms usually have a 'cause'. Just like the warning lights in our cars, they indicate that something is not operating the way it is supposed to. Our bodies give indication when something isn't functioning properly. Sometimes it only needs a minor adjustment to get back on track.

Our bodies are electromagnetic in nature and much can be determined by assessing the energy levels of the body.

Our family has had amazing results using energy therapies.

You can spend a lot of time and a lot of money going through medical testing and sometimes they still cannot pinpoint the exact physical cause.

Subtle signs usually show up first in the energy field and then they manifest in the physical body.

You can get an energetic scan of the body (safe, non-invasive, and without physical touch being required). You can get a reading of what is apparent on that level for $35.

We have used this in our family for years and we have many stories of incredible results. I fully trust and highly recommend Tom's services.

You don't have to understand quantum physics or how it all works to enjoy great results.

Hi A.,

Let me first say that I feel for you and your 3 year old son. No little child should be suffering like that. When my daughter was 3 and we achieved potty training, she began to hold back going #2 which led to very backed up bowels. It took treatments of enemas, and other meds, with the guidance of a doctor, to clean out her bowels. During this time, the vomiting was very cyclical and her appetite was minimal. I can't recall if it was a regular xray that showed how backed up my daughter's bowels were...it may have been a ct scan? Is your son's stomach distended?

I hope you will pursue this further - continued cyclical vomiting will compromise his normal electrolyte balance and other things concerning his health. Good luck to you and my prayers as well! :)

Has he had an MRI of the brain? I too would question the Dx. Poor baby! I have a son with multiple special needs - one of which is hydrocephalous. We go through vomiting episodes as well.

If I were you, I'd also look into Celiac as a possible Dx. Celiac disease is a food sensitivity to gluten, which is protein found primarily in wheat, rye, and barley. In those affected, an immune response to gluten damages the lining of the small intestine. The flattened lining of the intestine does not absorb and digest food normally. Onset can occur at any time, but is primarily seen by the time a child hits two or three. I'd visit a pedi. GI if your general pedi. suspects it...

Best of luck to you.

My friend's son had something similiar to this. He had an issue with his kidney that eventually needed surgery. I have no idea who the two were related but he did vomit a lot and they just thought it was because he was in daycare all week.
