That's weird because I know when I am sick like that I crave the same kind of thing. I don't dare eat it though until I can keep 7up or crackers down!
Since yesterday, my daughter has had the Stomach Flu & fever dizziness, etc.
Still sick, but not throwing up today.
No appetite, but giving her fluids little at a time to prevent dehydration etc.
But.... so she is "craving" Thai Chicken in Peanut Sauce! Right now!
Maybe her appetite is returning or it is just a mental craving.
I'm sure her body will throw it up, right? If she eats it.... since it is a rich food.
So, do I let her eat it?
Best not to, right?
But would her craving a food, mean she is getting better?
Again, she is not eating much at all since yesterday. I am just going by her cues and illness.
Just bland crackers if anything. Which she barely even ate that, today. Only had 1.
I know, I feel silly for asking this, but just wondering what you all thought?
I told her she best not eat.... that, now.

funny that you posted this... i had a little bug over the weekend and yesterday afternoon i felt well enough to eat, and i HAD to have pei wei mongolian beef with fried rice and hot and sour soup. i know, weird, right? i am one that will puke up a cracker and water if it's not "what i want" when i'm nauseous. i remember being in ICU when i was pregnant, had lost almost 30 lbs due to severe morning sickness, i reconnected with the world after a couple of days "out", and i woke up craving olive garden salad and general tso's chicken! i was given crackers and promptly puked, the ICU dr then sent my hubby out, i kept down the heavy food without a problem lol! sometimes, even when it makes not a lick of sense, you just want what you want.... all that said, whether or not i'd give my child that would depend upon their absolute ability to get to the toilet to puke it up if need be. hope she stays feeling better!
I think it's a sign that she's getting her appetite back.
In our house, our rule is that you get to eat whatever you feel like eating whenever you feel like eating.
I'd probably let her have a small portion & see how it goes...
Hope she's better soon!
I take "Vietnamese Penicillin" when I'm sick (aka pho) because it just STOMPS on whatever I have.
It's the combo of FATS (our immune system is made almost entirely out of lipids with just a little protein thrown in for structure), SUPER easily digestable proteins and minerals, plus a WHOMP of vitC and a few other major immune helping traces.
The theory is the same behind "Jewish Penicilin" (aka chicken soup), but Pho has extra antioxidents by the truckload.
Personally... I'd crack open a can of Campbells Chicken Soup, strain off the noodles and solids... and give her the broth OR go get her some McDonalds (for the super easily digestable / aka super processed fats and proteins) OR give her a peanut butter spoon and some apple juice.
The craving sounds like her body is screaming for fats for her immune system... but I'll bet you're 100% right in that it would come back up because it's too difficult to digest.
My 2 yr old had a the flu bug last week the following day he kept asking for a hamburger. I though the was nuts and there was no way he would keep it down....He begged and begged for it, I went ahead and gave it to him. No problem whatsoever. I was shocked so expected it all to come back up.
You can always try to have her wait it out or give just a little and see if it'll stay down. I'm always shocked at how quick my kids rebound from illnesses.
Hope she feels better soon!
Ha she sounds like me. When I get sick like that all of a sudden I start feeling better and crave spicy or strong flavored food.
It has taken me decades to convince my husband to just get what I want.
I only eat a little the first time, but usually the next afternoon I feel well enough to finish off my crazy cravings.
SH, I think it is a good sign but would not give it to her. I would give her some sorbet or similar mild treat and tell her you will make her dream lunch some other time! I would hate to have to clean that up ;))))))
What about ordering the chinese chicken noodle soup? It is yummy and mild. Just make sure that she chews the noodles well. They do not come up well whole.... boy did i learn that the hard way!
