Can anyone recommend a daycare in Tampa? I've looked into Kindercare and Storybook Ranch. Not impressed with either. I prefer Carrollwood,Westchase or South Tampa area.
Also, if you have had a bad experience at any daycare in the area please post about it. I would like to know. Thanks!!!!

You MUST check out Primavera Preschool, take it from a parent who has looked everywhere! I have a 2 year old and it was her first time. She loved it and did not want to leave...a very good sign. They are spacious, clean , and very attentive. They just opened in the westchase area and accept kids ages 1 through 5. They have an Open House this weekend the 7th from 10:30 to 2:30. ###-###-#### is their phone number. Their address is 13601 W. Hillsborough Ave. between Racew Track Rd and Countryway Blvd. You really should check them out, you will be impressed as I was. Good Luck!

Childlife, Kids R Kids, Smart Start are all decent centers in the Westchase area. Not sure about Primrose. I know parents who pulled their kids out of their but that was awhile back so maybe things have changed? Also, their rates were astronomical compared to the others nearby but again, that was a few years back.

We have our 2 yr old daughter in Primrose at Tampa Palms. It's yards ahead of any Kindercare/chain I've visited. They have one in Westchase and several of my co-workers have thier kids there. The owners are in the process of opening one in Carollwood. Let me know if you'd like more information.

Choosing Child Care

Steps To Finding Quality Child Care
Call the local organization "Resource & Referral - Partners In Care" for a list of licensed child care centers and family child care homes that meet your needs at ###-###-####.

Call and make an appointment to visit a few of the centers and/or homes. Bring your Checklist and Questions lists, which are available on the Steps to Finding Quality Child Care page.

Visit the Child Care Licensing Office at between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Ask to see the licensing files of your top two or three choices. An intake inspector is available to answer any questions you may have. These files contain copies of past monitoring reports, complaints, investigations and other reports relating to the legal operation of the center or home.

Child Care Program Inspection Reports
To review the most recent provider inspection reports, visit the child care provider section of the Florida State Government website -- myflorida.com/childcare/providers/. Presently complaint investigations are not available online. To review the complete licensing file for local providers, please visit our licensing office at 8900 North Armenia Avenue, Suite 210, Tampa, during business hours.

How to Report a Concern about Childcare

Before you call in a complaint about a center or family child care home, share your concern with the center director or family child care home provider. Often open, positive communication can resolve a small problem before it becomes a big problem. The brochures "Know Your Child's Child Care Center" and "Know Your Child's Family Child Care Home," which are available through the Child Care Licensing Office, can provide you with information on Hillsborough County's licensing rules.

Hi L.,
I don't know how old your child is, but the one I would suggest in south Tampa is Seaborn Day school. It goes from 18 months until 4 for full time, and also has after school care. Drop off is 7:30 am - 6 pm. It is wonderful! Let me know if you need any more info! M.
