Dealing with Major Pms Symptoms Naturally?

I'm not on birth control b/c we are doing the whole "if it happens, it happens" thing. For the past 6 months or so I have MAJOR pms! Today I bawled crying about a preview for a series of family movies coming to abcfamily. Then, I freaked out at the mention of my husband showing me a music video of some new music thinking that he was "trying to shove things down my throat!" Lol. We talk through my pms today, but most months it's me going nuts and him not having any idea where I just came from. I'm a really easy-going, nice person except for those few days before I start. Any tips on pills or vitamins or diet things to consider to keep my pms in check????? Help!! I hate hormones!

What can I do next?

I've posted this so many times on here, but it really changed my life! I had horrendous PMS, and my doctor suggested calcium and B-complex vitamins. He said they work wonders for some people, and do nothing for others. They are amazing for me! I can't even tell when I'm going to start my period anymore unless I check the calendar.

*I also take magnesium, and some moms on here say that helps, too. It may have something to do with it, so you might want to add that to the mix. Whatever you do, I hope you find something that helps. :)

I have to say I am laughing so hard right now about the music video...sooo been there.

Two things have helped me:

1) I eat as naturally as possible all the time but I really focus on it the week before my period. However, I do indulge if a craving hits. I have to stay sane :)

2) I am very concious of my moods and how I am feeling. I also ask my husband to bear with me and gently remind me we are playing for the same team.

Its not perfect, but helps me. My husband is very understanding (yours sounds wonderful as well) and he knows he's not perfect and neither am I.

Watch "Forks over Knives". It talks about a natural mostly plant based diet that seems to help with all kinds of problems.

I had horrible, horrible PMS ever since I had my first period. Found out when I was 40 years old that I had severe casein allergy (that is, I'm allergic to anything with cow dairy in it), severe gluten intolerance, and severe soy intolerance. I also had about 20 other food intolerances. And my body was very, very depleted in several key nutrients, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and amino acids because of Leaky Gut Syndrome, which occurs when your body has food allergies or intolerances and you don't know about them and you continue to still eat the foods that don't like your body. I also had very bad hyperplasia; since I was done having children, I had a NovaSure Ablation done, which helped get rid of very heavy, blood clotted periods.

Since I quit eating the offending foods, cut out all processed food, cut out all fast food, and now drink reverse-osmosis water, my PMS is virtually gone! Yeah for me! I also take MacaRoot 4x/day; 2 pills with breakfast, and 1 pill for both lunch and supper. MacaRoot is in the rutabaga family and is almost like a wonder vege for female issues.

You might also have issues with your thyroid and/or adrenals. I had moderate adrenal fatigue, and taking care of that has also really helped.

I urge you to go see a Naturopathic Doctor and have yourself tested to find out why your hormones are so out of whack and then take measures (better eating, not eating bad foods for you, taking supplements for the things your body is missing) to help your body heal. There is NO REASON for any woman to ever suffer from PMS. If you do, there are things you can do to get rid of PMS.

I know; I've done it.

Good luck.

Hi Bethy
For home remedies I use this website. I don't have bad pms so I have never researched options.
www.earthclinic.com
The best part about this website is that regular people like you and me go on and post how the remedy worked or did not work for them.
Hope you find some relief and tell your hubby to hide the knives!! JK!
Blessings!

Research shows that magnesium supplements, exercise and a reduction of simple carbs and sugars in the diet the 2 weeks after ovulation can reduce pms symptoms. You might take a look at this website to give you some practical help with your nutrition: http://cyclediet.com/help_for_pms.php.

up your vitamins but the biggest help I've found is to up my intake of foods that have natural estrogen. Sweet Potatoes, and soy milk are my choices. This is from a friend's Dr.

Not the dietary change you asked about, but try exercise. The good endorphins can help keep the crazies in check.
