My aunt needs some extensive dental work done and even with insurance it be over $2000 here. I have heard of people going to Mexico to have this done. Do any of you have a good place that you went to or someone close to you went to that you can really recommend?

This is someone very close to me and I don't want a shoddy job on her implants, please.

Thank you!

Hi Sheila. I'm a dental hygienist and I must say that I would strongly advise against going to Mexico for any dental work. Not only may they not do an adequate job, but the style of dentistry they practice is much different. Their restorations like crowns, fillings, etc. are very bulky and unattractive. I have several patients that I see at my practice who have been to Mexico and other latin countries to get their work done, and none of it has been good. I agree with the other post that recommended checking with Baylor College of Dentistry. They may require more appointments, but you know the work will be done correctly because each step the student takes is watched over and graded by an instructor.

I don't suggest going to any place in border towns right now. Especially, not in Nuevo Laredo where I use to love to visit. Too, many people have been kidnapped and murdered. I would have her save up and do it here. I use to be all for having work done in Mexico but I don't think it is worth the risk.

Check with Baylor college of dentistry sometimes it can take a while to get in but at least you are getting the work done correctly. I would NEVER consider going to Mexico to get dental work done, you don't know what type of job they are going to do,they could really do some damage to your teeth and you will end up spending more money correcting the work. This happened to my husband, he did not get the work done in Mexico but from a Denist in Plano and was in major pain and suffering for about a year. You could check with Dr Kent Herndon he is a very good Dentist, but I don't know if he can do the type of work your looking for but he can refer you to someone, he is located in Dallas. Keller Springs and the Tollway.

Hi Sheila, I would not recommend border towns just because I don't even like to go there, and I'm a native ;)!

Monterrey is the 3rd largest city in Mexico and you should have no problem there. There is a Walmart, KFC and Sam's on every corner :)

I don't have any recommendations, just use the list that Marjorie provided to do your research. Good luck

I would also suggest Baylor College of Dentistry. I personally have never had work done there but, my Grandmother does all the time. She has always been pleased with the work, and she goes there to save money since she has no dental insurance.
