Desparate for a Babysitter for Flexible Hours

I have two children (3 and 5) and I work for a 24-hour company. I need a sitter most weeks from 3pm - 5PM only, but one week each month, I need one from 7AM - 5PM. A daycare center will only take them full time & I can't afford to pay a full week for only 10 hours of actual care. I've tried several "friends of friends" who take the kids in their home, but it never seems to work out for long. Isn't there SOMEONE out there who would like to work one full week a month and then two hours a day for extra cash?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you to everyone who responded! Good news! I found someone! Ashley in Venice (another Mamasource member) was referred to me by a friend and she has been awesome! Flexible, convenient, fun and funny! Unfortunately - now we're moving! So if you are someone looking for a great childcare provider, feel free to contact me for more information. I was her only "customer" and she's looking for kids who need a loving place!

Hello. Ashley said to contact you in regards to being a reference for babysitting. She might be watching my 7 month old daughter 2 days a week. She ws going to give me your number to contact you, but said her phone got wet and she had to get a new phone and lost alot of her numbers. She tried to get it from another friend, but they didn't have it either. What can you tell me about her? Anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Maybe try a highschool student or a college student, for the 3-5 shift, and even better they will watch them at your home. Sometimes you can find them by just talking to neigbors and area teachers. HRS can give you a list of home daycares also, they seem to be more flexable with hours. Good Luck

Hi P., my heart goes out to you because I have been in your shoes. However I can not assist you with those hours as I work full time Mon - Fri. If you ever need a sitter for evenings or weekends though I may be able to help. Also, I wanted to mention to you a church I attend in North Port, It is called Lighthouse baptist. They have a daycare that could probably help you out. I sent my own son there and he loved it. Stephanie is the teacher and she is truly awesome. They charge you by what you can afford and it is usually only 40.00 a week, the times that you only need a few days it would be less. I would call the pastor and ask for his help. His name is Phil Sheffield. Hope it helps.

I basically have the same problem with my 4yr. old. I have not found anything, but I am still looking into things. If I come up with anything I will let you know. I think there may be a childcare place in Pt. Charlotte that does daily care. If you find any facility please let me know as well. Good Luck!
