Desparate Need of Double Stroller Suggestions

I am looking for a double stroller for my 2 year old and 5 month old. I have been searching and need one that manuevers well, fits through a doorway, is comfortable and safe, will not tilt to one side due to the difference in weight and has some storage compartment. I live in Chicago, so I need something that will stand up to and manage the uneven sidewalks and pot holes.

we lOLVE our phil and ted's -- we purchased it at the right start store (which is now closed). I've seen it on line through babystyle.com and philandteds.com but don't know where you can see it in person.

We started using the stroller when our second was an infant in the recline position and now use it as a double for toddlers.

Check out Lazars on Lincoln and Devon - they've got some very good ones. (much higher quality than babies r us!)

I don't have a recommendation but can only say DO NOT get a Kolcraft umberella type double stroller. I borrowed one for 12 weeks and it was awful - wheels went in different directions, it got stuck in potholes, it tipped when I tried to cross the street & I couldn;t get it in and out of stores.

The Galt store at 9oo North Michigan has the Phil & Teds stroller on display. I've heard great reviews about it.

Good Luck,

R.

I only have one child, but the Jeep Liberty Urban terrain is the one we use. The tires are real air filled tires, so they stand up to Chicago sidewalks. It turns really easily and I saw it in a double version. I don't know if the double has all the same features, but worth a try. Good luck!

I have the Peg Perego Aria Twin and hate it...especially when my bigger kid wants to ride with one of my twins. Frankly, I wish I had coughed up the extra dough for the Mountain Buggy Urban Double. I have a second hand Graco Duo Glider (front/back) and while heavy, it's actually more maneuverable than the Peg. Good luck!

We love our Combi Twin Savvy, as well!!! We've used it regularly for 2 years and it's still doing great!

With our second baby due in September and a 14 month old, we chose the Mountain Buggy Urban Double Stroller and love it! We also live in the city and it handles great on our not so great sidewalks. It is a breeze to maneuver and to push is almost effortless. So far, we have not found a doorway the stroller does not fit through. When collapsed it fits into our car well and even at 8 months pregnant it is still easy for me to take out of the trunk and erect. We also purchased additional accessories: the handle bar so our son can pull himself forward (which he likes to do) and the car seat adapter so we can snap in our Peg Perego Car Seat once the new baby arrives. Well worth every penny spent! Best of luck!

I have twin daughters and we LOVE our COMBI double, side-by-side stroller. Very lightweight and very easy to fold together. Fits 99% of doors--Only had an issue once or twice with custom and particularly small doorways. Starting using the stroller when the girls were infants and they're 19 months now and its still going strong. Really recommend the side-by-side so both kids have the same view and can interact, but if that's an issue (you have more of an age difference between your children), I can understand how a front & back stroller might make sense too. In any case, we really love our COMBI stroller.
