Diapers Leak When My Son Sleeps

My 6 month old son sleeps between 10 and 12 hours a night. He always rolls over on his tummy to sleep. More often than not, when he wakes up in the morning, his diaper has overflowed at the top (by his belly button). Someone mentioned using diaper liners in his diaper at night. Does anyone have any recommendations? We use Huggies Baby Fit diapers. They work wonderfully otherwise... just the nighttime is an issue. Any advice would be appreciated!

So What Happened?

Thank you so much for all of your advice! We are using the Diaper Doublers and they work really well!

We bought these liners called Diaper Doublers for my son's Huggies and they seem to be working but they are really strange and hard to get positioned correctly in his diaper. However, that is much easier than changing the sheets every day! I believe we got them at Wal-Mart.

Get the Diaper Doublers from babies-r-us! they are only $3.0 for about 20 liners. We used them for my son who had the same issue! Slept great- but every morning he was wet and I had to change his bedding everyday!!! The doublers were wonderful! just added it to the diaper- put it on him - put him to bed- no wetness in the morning! Good Luck K.

I never used Huggies so I am not sure if that has something to do with it. I used Pampers Swaddlers and then Cruisers. I know this sounds a little odd, but you might try making sure that his pee pee is pointed down in his diaper when he goes down for the night. Odd, I know but it seemed to help my son!

I had the same problem with my son. What I did is buy Huggies just for the night and during the day I use the off brand of diapers from babies r us. There are times that he does have leaks, but for the most part the Huggies work.

Hope this helps.

Diaper doublers at Safeway they are safeway brand. I use huggies overnights and they worked sometimes, but boys pee upwards and in the front and he sleeps with us and lwt me tell you there is nothing worse than waking up wet and I mean me. he would lay aginst me. The doublers are like a maxipad and I would put it further up front. I tried plastic pants over the diaper but the elastic cut into his thighs so I qiut that.

I had the same problem with Huggies for overnight. I now buy Pampers Baby Dry. They work sooooo much better. They are a little bit more expensive, but well worth the money. Plus, they have a rewards program where you can get toys and books by redeeming points located on the inside of the package. You can go to www.pampers.com to redeem them. Also, Luvs work really well too, and a lot less expensive, but the sides don't stretch at all whereas the Pampers do. I fold over the top of the diaper a little bit too. Hope this helps!

Huggies makes diapers called overnights that work good too but my sister-in-law had the same problem and she just got accustomed to laying towels underneath the sheets so he doesn't soak everything all the way through.

With my daughter I used Pampers Swaddlers because she was a curvy little child so it kept her nice and snug without any room to have saggage around the top. As well I would change my daughter in the middle of the night so it gave me a better chance but I was lucky because I could change her without waking her up.

Good Luck!

I had the same problem with huggies at night. So I switched to Pampers swaddlers. Problem solved . They seem to absorb so much better. Once my daughter got to a size 3, we switched to the Costco brand. They work just as good and are almost half the price. But they only sell size 3 and above. Hope this helps.

My son had pretty long legs and he leaked too. But we switched him one size bigger and it stopped leaking. Of course he's 3 now and still in training pants but it helped to get 1 size bigger.

I agree with Jenny. I used Huggies and the worked perfect with my daughter. I tried them when I had my son---leaked everywhere. So I figure I will use Huggies for girls and Pampers for boys.
