Did Once a Pon of Child Rip Me Off ?

I too had a similar experience and what I do is I just take the money I make from them and buy my daughter clothes there. This spring I am doing Craigslist and maybe ebay. Some clothes that I do buy off Etsy (which are handmade) I sell at my friends garage sale and I get a pretty good price for them. It was a hard lesson to learn how little you get back but, then I think of the amount of time I would have to spend listing and paying to list on ebay. So, I just get what I can from them and make do. Sorry you had such a bad experience.

I have only sold stuff there once, but from what I've heard, they don't give you much for what you bring in and some of their stuff is kinda pricey. I guess it saves you time from having to have a rummage sale or do the ebay thing and you get a little money vs giving it away. It would be nice to find a better option. Let us know if you hear of any better suggestions.

i've had experience like that with them. funny i bought a little jacket from them and NEVER used it and when i brought back to them they wouldn't take due to "wear" but seems it was ok for them before. and they didn't take new stuff WITH TAGS but i found a pair of smokey stinky shoes there for sale.
sometimes they try and sell things for MORE than you can buy at say Kohls. its funny.
so, they ripped you off like everyone else. i was given .25 for some things. i think their numbers have gone down.

from what i've heard about what they give for clothing and knowing what they sell them for, it sounds like you got a similar deal to what others have gotten -- not smashing by any means, but does save the trouble of listing on craigslist or ebay or selling things at a garage sale.

I take my nice used clothing to Repeat Street in Gurnee. They are selective, but what they take gets sold and it ads up. Since they have such nice things, I turn around and spend my credits there. No loss!

I have not checked to see what they are paying me but since I am using the credit to buy what my kids need it works out nicely.

Dear Gloria, No, I don't believe you've been ripped off. Having been a retail store owner long ago, I can tell you that once they paid their rent, insurance, heat, electricty, taxes and employees, they barely made a profit. It is really unfortunate, but that is reality. The taxes, and in particular the unemployment insurance, has become so incredibly costly, that small businesses are being driven out of business at an alarming rate all across the country. Sorry to be a downer, but I thought you should know the truth. You can make more by having your own garage sale, but that takes time and effort. If you're willing, that's a good option.
